Memory is very sensitive; therefore it is entirely possible to get defective memory. With that said I ordered this 8GB laptop memory kit after checking the Corsair website and finding compatible memory for my Dell Studio XPS 1640. The manufacturer's website stated that this memory kit was compatible with my system, which is why I was pleased to find it at a lower price on Amazon. My order arrived on time and in good condition. I took all necessary steps to avoid static discharge and handled the memory properly at all times. I installed the memory in my laptop only to realize it was not recognized by the system; the memory did not POST and thus was not available in setup screen. I tried many combinations to no avail. I requested a replacement, but the replacement did not work either. I ultimately requested a refund from Amazon and ordered a 8 GB memory kit from Crucial.com. The Crucial memory works perfectly and was immediately recognized. I would not recommend Corsair memory, especially for any Dell product!

Review of Corsair 16GB dual channel 1333C9 memory:
Seems like ok quality initially but this is the second time I've had a corsair 16GB kit die on me. For some reason this memory seems to have a short life span. It runs well when it runs but when it goes it goes in a big and potentially very damaging way. When it starts going it'll generate all kinds of errors and random problems, got to the point where my computer was blue screening and dying almost every time I would turn it on. I thought my motherboard was going out or something else but the odd thing was that when I tested this memory with Memtest it didn't register any problems with it. When I sent the laptop into HP's RMA department they identified the problem as the RAM which made sense after I changed it out with other RAM all of my problems went away.
I bought this memory since it appeared to be pretty good quality RAM and was made in Taiwan rather than china so I was hoping it would last longer than cheap chinese RAM. So far though this kit has only lasted a year and died either from heat or other issues. All in all I'm not very impressed with it and wish I would have gotten something a bit different that hopefully would have lasted longer.
However, this has given me another opportunity to validate Corsair's return policy and system does work if not a bit slow. Also I would also highly recommend you save your receipt, and your return shipping label when they die as you'll need the tracking number and all confirmation numbers as I've found the Corsair RMA department tends to lose packages. I had to wait an additional 2 weeks for mine because they initially lost the package after it had arrived over a week and a half earlier.

Update Aug 12 2014
Well I have to admit now I'm angry. I have replaced this RAM 3 Times now since I initially bought it in March of 2013. This is absolutely inexcusable and represents nothing but horrible quality. I'm RMAing these modules once again after, for no apparent reason and without warning, my laptop would no longer boot with them no matter what I tried. Ended up swapping it out with OEM memory and my system sprang to life on the first try. Because of this I will no longer recommend this product at all. Inexcusable and horrible quality RAM after 3 sets!! RMA failures. No it's not the laptop or the power supply I've tested all of them extensively before and after re-installing OEM RAM. Everything in my laptop checks out this RAM simply can't do the job.
Overall I've seen this memory last no more than several months for each set. This last one lasted only 7 months. The one prior 6 Months and the original lasted a mere 4 months. Don't buy until Corsair overhauls its laptop memory especially these 16GB kits as they seem to be riddled with problems both on the desktop and laptop versions as I've had nothing but grief with them.

Bought this kit for a 2 year old Sony Vaio E series laptop. Installation was easy but then my problems began. Let me say at the start, I'm no computer geek and I'm not a gamer. Just wanted my laptop to run faster. I had read that a ram upgrade was the quickest and easiest way to do just that. Bought these and yes, it did make my laptop faster to begin with. BUT, It started shutting itself off and restarting without warning. I heard a very slight buzz from the computer on initial startup so maybe something fried right away. I couldn't even get it to stay on long enough to run a memory test that I had seen other reviewers refer to. Tried installing only each stick alone in the number 1 slot and again, same result no matter which stick I used. Had to reinstall the original memory to get back to where I started. To be fair, I don't know if the problem was with the laptop or the memory. I searched for the specs on this model vaio and it says 8 gb max. So, I guess maybe a geek could tell me if it's a Sony thing limiting the max amout of memory that can be used problem. I have since installed 8 gb of Samsung memory and have had no problems. I didn't get aound to installing these until after the return deadline, so now I'm stuck with 16gb of ram that I can't even give away because I wouldn't wish my problems on anyone else. I don't know if I should blame Sony or Corsair. I can't blame Amazon because they have been truly great in the past. Quick or as promised delivery, no problem returns when needed, and goods received as described. Just know this. If you order something electronic, install or test its functionality right away, so you don't end up having to buy twice.

DO NOT USE if you have a Macbook Pro 13" Mid 2012. Here's my story: This ram does not work well with MBP Mid 2013 13". As a result, I'm on MBP #3. The ram went bad (still worked so I didn't know), but caused all of the MBPs to overheat. The hotness, in turn caused my keyboards to slowing stock working. It was always the row with ASDFGHJKL. Go Figure. Thank god, I never believed that I had a bad logic board (I did break down a buy a fan.) Moving forward. I put the old memory back in and left my computer on for 3 days, restoring a hard drive. The body is as cool as I don't know what.

1) I got the delivered message one week before of the actual arrive, and since I don't live in the states, there was no way for me to CORROBORATE this.
2) then when I finally install them and boot up both Linux and Windows 7 got freeze up.
I started vmware set 8GB for it and booted somehow stable but after a couple of minutes all the ram startit to drain away
and at some point all the 22GB were gone until it got lockup

Then run some memory test with my Lenovo software(ThinkPadW520) and it took a while(LONG TIME). while I was trying to pass the first time gave me same error( drain hole memory, lockup ) so I rebooted again. this time run the test again took a while and at the end said there were no error and everything was ok.
So I left it there for about 1 ore two weeks cause I wasn't doing heavy developing at that time, when I came back and try to do something with my android after a while I would get blue screens and it would reboot so many times. that I decided to do the memory test that is available at boot time (Linux grub menu) and for my surprise there were so many errors that I had to check every single ram stick, the default ones were ok only the corsair's were NOT what a disappointment!!!!!.

By this time the 30 days where long pass and I'm here out of the states with this $100 useless hardware.

Please make your self a favor and don't buy this. Do it only if your ready to loose $100 and don't care or your amazon neighbor

I've had inexplicable problems with two computers. I ran the Apple Hardware Test on one of them and discovered I had bad memory. So I tested the memory on my other computer and it had bad memory too. All of it was Corsair Value Select memory. I didn't learn my lesson and bought four new Corsair Value Select modules and tested them right away. Three of the four were bad right out of the package. Altogether between the new and old memory modules I have five good and five that failed the memory test. That is just horrible. And there's no way it is a coincidence. I will avoid this memory at all costs in the future.

Now, before I discovered the problems with the memory I had been using it for over a year with no knowledge that there was an issue. It's not like if you have bad memory your computer just stops working. It just crashes at odd times and has problems that you might wrongly blame on software conflicts, driver issues, etc. Most people have no idea their memory is defective and causing problems for them. If you are using this memory learn to test it and find out if you have any bad memory modules. If you aren't using this memory DON'T!

Oh yeah, and Corsair claims to have lifetime warranty. I contacted their customer service days ago. They claim to respond within one day but I haven't heard a peep from them.

I purchased these for my late 2011 Mac Mini and at first they worked fine. After four months my Mac became erratic, throwing errors, closing out of programs, rebooting for no reason. After several visits to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store and a new hard drive, they determined my new aftermarket RAM was the cause of my issues. I returned the OEM memory to my Mac and it has worked like a charm ever since. I realize that defective RAM can make it through the QA process. Nonetheless, I cannot recommend this product based on my experience. Obviously, many others have fared better than I.

Had to RMA. Would not boot in Asus A52F. Bois could see it but it would not boot. Old RAM still works fine, just wanted to double memory in laptop. Will try another brand. If the other brand works, I'll update this review and let people know.

Shipping was awesome as always, but the ram made my Mac Mini very unstable. It'd automatically restart and crash several times. I put the original RAM back in and the crashes stopped. I won't be buying Corsair again, do they rub the package on a shag carpet or what? Get the Crucial instead.

New Review as of December 27, 2011:

Had to return the memory as I kept experiencing kernel panics with my MD318LL/A 15" Late-2011 Macbook Pro. Ordered the 8GB kit from Crucial instead (working just fine as of this review). Probably not the fault of Corsair; it was just a bad batch of memory. Amazon is definitely not to blame.

Old Review:

5-stars for "works as expected".

3-stars for packaging.

Removed the *10* screws from the baseplate of my Oct 2011 MBP 15". Grounded myself, popped out the old memory (note: they're stacked), then fretted and cajoled and pried the new memory out of the Fort Knox of packaging (I was half afraid that I'd damage the chips, and I've done dozens of memory jobs). Installed the new memory, then had to cajole certain screws back into their places due to excessive(?) LocTite.

Powered up the machine and all is fine (I'm writing this review 3 minutes after tightening the last screw and the machine reports 8GB of 1333 memory), but man, what a harrowing experience (even for an experienced guy like me). Maybe its because my MBP is my baby and it's not someone else's machine.
