From the Manufacturer
CX Series Modular power supply units are an excellent choice for basic system builds and desktop PC computer upgrades, offering high reliability, low noise, and the flexibility of modular cabling.
The modular cabling system lets you use only the cables you need. You get to save space and reduce clutter for a cleaner-looking build and improved airflow.
Reliable and Compatible
CX Series Modular is built and tested to strict standards for trouble-free installation and smooth operation.
80PLUS Bronze certified efficiency and clever fan design allow for little or no detectable fan noise during regular operation.
The matte black finish, black-sleeved cables and black connectors help give your system a restrained, high-tech look.
Corsair Engineering and Quality Control
Every Corsair power supply is designed by our California engineering team and built to our exact specifications. The same care that goes into the design and testing of our renowned high-power enthusiast power supplies also goes into the CX Series Modular, because you need confidence and reliability regardless of your build budget.
Modular Cabling System
Since the peripheral power cables aren’t hard-wired to the power supply, you can connect only the cables you need for your exact configuration of PCI-E cards and storage devices. The rest of the cables stay in the box, and not in your PC’s case where they can add to the clutter and interfere with airflow.
Large-Diameter, Thermally Controlled Fan
Once you’ve installed a PSU, you shouldn’t have to think about it. Employing a thermally controlled fan makes the CX Series Modular quieter at idle, and the large diameter reduces noise even when you’re pushing your system hard.
Black Goes with Everything
You’re building a PC, not a battleship, and appearance counts. The matte black finish and all-black sleeved cables and connectors help give your system a high-tech, restrained look.

(+) Fits in the Amplifier.
(+) More power than the stock PSU in the Amplifier. Delivers +150W more.
(+) Quiet, so it doesn't sound like a jet taking off.
(+) Modular, so the precious space in the tiny Amplifier isn't cramped with unnecessary cables.
(-) Doesn't fit "perfectly" in the Amplifier. Needed to remove a metal plate that secured the old stock PSU because cables are located differently.
(-) Cables are too long, although this is might only be specific to my case as the Amplifier is a tiny machine, about a fourth of the size of a typical PC rig.
- Definitely go modular. The ability to use only the wires you need is worth the few extra bucks. With only two SATA devices, I was able to install the PSU and add just one modular cord. Very clean install.
- For my Dell, the CPU power cord (R2, one of the ones hard wired to the PSU), comes as 2 conjoined 4-pin connectors, Just separate them using a pair of needle-nose pliers and use one of the connectors. The other I held back with a zip tie.
- Definitely use the included Corsair power cord (power strip outlet to PSU). In my case at least, the old Dell power cord did not work with the new PSU - the unit would not power up. The included Corsair cord worked fine. Not sure why - maybe something proprietary about the Dell PSU?
Have had it installed for several hours now and it is working fine. It is super quiet (I can barely hear it) and the system checks out. Much less than a Dell OEM replacement, cheaper, quieter, and better built. Highly recommended.
CPU failures are pretty rare but its happened to me before and I actually misdiagnosed it to be a power supply issue. Corsair's warranty features a cross shipping option where you pay for the price of a new power supply while they ship you a new one. And when they receive your original they will refund that amount back to your card. I was able to test my system with the new power supply and found that something had happened to my motherboard and CPU which may or may not have been cause by my power supply. My warranty was processed with no questions asked in a timely manner.
Service like that lets you know that the company know their parts are important for everyday operation.
The Corsair CX series is a semi modular power supply that is significantly cheaper than a full modular alternative. Let's face it, most people do not need 6 sata or 2 sets of pci power cables. The cables that are not modular are the pieces that pretty much all motherboards need. The motherboard and CPU power. Having less cables will increase your airflow for better cooling and easier cleaning.
I would highly recommend this series of power supplies. 600 watts is fine for the typical build with a single video card.

Went with CX750 to be able to upgrade down the line. When I upgraded from my 1050 ti to my 980 ti (a more power hungry GPU) this power supply began to make loud noises forcing me to pick up a different psu.
I ended up going with a EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G2 80+ Gold with better internal components.
Still using the EVGA 650 to power my RTX 2070 now
While I was shopping for parts, I had read a couple reviews about people having them explode or getting faulty units - but that can happen with almost ANY unit you buy; and in extremely few numbers! This company is very well-known, and has great products; I DOUBT that, even if you were (VERY) unlucky enough to get a faulty unit, they would do nothing to please you despite the inconvenience of exchanging.
Not being required to use or have all the cables provided in a modular unit saves a lot of space, and is so much easier to organize inside the case - compared to a non-modular psu.
Very quiet, good fit, little clutter, modular interface. Worth the price.
Love the option to take out unnecessary cords.
Extremely quiet fan
Small and compact
Screws fit in the exact same spot, no adjusting required.
Smaller SATA cable then expected. Had to stretch across my cas as the hard drives are stored on the bottom.
Supply Box wasn't as high as my stock PSU, leaving a small space underneath. No real big problem.
He replaced it with this one and it's been working great since (several months).
