Corsair Mac Memory Upgrade Kits: Guaranteed Performance, Compatibility, Support
Corsair's 4GB and 8GB Mac memory upgrade kits will help your system work better. With hassle-free compatibility and renowned Corsair reliability and support, they're a smart performance investment.
One of the best ways to improve your Mac's performance
Applications use memory, and some of the applications that run best on the Mac — photo and video editing — use lots of it. That's why outfitting your Mac with a Corsair Mac Memory upgrade kit is one of the best things you can do to maximize your system's performance and agility.
With a Mac that's been upgraded to the maximum amount of memory it supports, you'll spend less time waiting for your applications to buffer data to the hard drive, and more time working — or playing. Upgrading memory can also be a cost-effective way to get more life out of your older system. Before you trade up to a new one, just upgrade the memory.

One thing that I noticed while installing my memory, is that the memory type required by the macbook pro changed sometime between 2010 and 2011 so you may want to verify your memory type in "System Profiler" which can be found in your Utility Folder on your Mac. That will usually tell you how much memory you have and what type (i.e. DDR3 1066, or some other type). If you need to know your maximum allowable/recognizable memory, I would recommend searching your model number on Apples Support page.Read more ›
Using the detailed instructions provided on Apple's website for upgrading RAM, I was able to install and start using my computer again in less than 10 minutes. Basically, removed the bottom, popped out the old RAM, plugged in the new RAM, fired up the computer, and voilà. I should point out that, while I have upgraded RAM on previous PC once before, I'm definitely not a pro.
The process was painless, and the difference was immediately noticeable. Prior to the upgrade, having multiple programs open (Mail + Power Point + Safari +....) became increasingly sluggish and difficult. After the upgrade, I'm reminded of that fresh shiny new machine I unpacked back in 2010. Having used it over a week now, I can report that I've had no problems or unexpected glitches. If I do, I'll be sure to come back and report it. I'm extremely happy with the upgrade and recommend upgrading with this kit without reservation.
Pros: Cheap way to make your computer feel like new again.
Cons: None come to mind.
This kit is good if Apple recommends the following:
2 memory slots
Maximum memory: 8 GB or more
Specifications: Double Data Rate Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (DDR3) format
67.6mm x 30mm (1.18 inch)
2 GB or 4 GB
PC3-12800 DDR3 1600 MHz type RAM
They also recommend that you fill both memory slots, and install equal sized memory modules in each slot. This kit does the job.
- Great price
- Tested at Apple's compatibility lab
- Proven reliability
- Excellent support
- Lifetime warranty
- Hard to remove from packaging
INSTALL & MEMORY TEST
Installing the Corsair Mac Memory kit in a 15-inch MacBook Pro was quick and easy, though I struggled a little bit trying to remove the modules from the plastic packaging. The memory was immediately recognized by OS X and everything ran quickly and smoothly. Rember verified the memory size, type and speed. The Corsair kit also passed memory tests with flying colors. Check out the Rember screenshots I uploaded to Amazon.
RELIABILITY, VALUE & SUPPORT
The timing for the CMSA8GX3M2A1066C7 is 7-7-7-20, which is the same as the kits offered by the other manufacturers. So then why would you consider the Corsair memory kit over the others? The most obvious is price. The Corsair kit has a very competitive street price. Did you know that Apple charges $400 for an 8GB memory kit?!
What might be less obvious is that the Corsair kit has been tested at Apple's compatibility lab. This ensures that the memory you buy has actually been tested to work with Apple's products.Read more ›
