From the Manufacturer

The latest generation of the performance legend.

Dominator Platinum
This kit includes two 8GB 1600MHz DOMINATOR Platinum modules.

Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum builds on the legacy of the world's most awarded high-performance memory, adding a striking new industrial design and LED lighting effects. Like all DOMINATOR memory modules, they are built using only select memory ICs, highly-screened for performance and stability, and feature our patented DHX (Dual-path Heat eXchange) cooling technology, so you can push them to the limit.

Fanatical screening for phenomenal performance.

DOMINATOR Platinum memory modules are assembled using a “best of the best” IC screening process. Individual ICs are hand-screened to our highest performance threshold, and then the assembled modules undergo more rounds of rigorous screening and stability testing. The result is reliable performance under extreme pressure.

The new heatspreader design incorporates dual-channel DHX cooling to efficiently pull heat away from the PCB.
Cooler temperatures for better overclocking headroom.

Excess heat limits overclocking potential, reduces performance, and can even lead to shorter component life. Our patented dual-channel DHX cooling system pulls heat away from the modules and allows DOMINATOR Platinum to run at cooler temperatures than lesser memory kits.

This advanced cooling technology, combined with our relentless screening, delivers phenomenal overclocking potential.

Customize your look.

The integrated light bar provides a subtle downwash lighting effect that gives your system an impressive look but subtle look. Additional light bars (available separately, beginning September 2012) allow you to match your system's color scheme.

Corsair Link compatible.

Add an Airflow Pro (available separately), and connect with Corsair Link system monitoring and control solutions for real-time activity and temperature monitoring.

Designed for Enthusiasts. Backed by Corsair.

World-famous reliability and performance

There's a reason why world-champion overclockers, extreme gaming enthusiasts and high-end system builders all trust Corsair for high-performance memory that they can install with confidence and pride. Whether you're breaking your own records or you're simply building a dream gaming rig, you can count on Corsair memory.

I love Corsair products. I've always used Corsair Vengeance in my builds, but decided to go with the Dominator with my newest build. My case is a silver Corsair 600T and I have two GTX 780 reference cards. I went with the Dominator RAM mainly for the looks. The silver of the case, the silver accents on the 780 cards, and the silver light bar cover on the Dominator RAM all blend together very well.

Overclocked to 1800MHz with no issues. Been using these sticks for a month or so now, no issues at all. Due to the price, I would only recommend these to someone who is willing to shell out extra money for the looks. If you don't have a side window on your case don't even invest in these, just go with Vengeance memory.

We all bought this RAM because it looks super awesome. The lighting is subtle, but tasteful. I moved from 16 GBs (4 x 4) of Corsair Vengeance RAM to this (2 x 8) for possible future expansion to 32 GBs. As I don't overclock, I haven't noticed a difference at all. But DAMN it looks good in my system. My machine is stable (again, I don't overclock) and the sticks run very cool to the touch. The timing was the same as the Vengeance sticks, so I can't see why I'd see a difference.

I just overhauled my old computer rig and had a little left over in the budget so I went ahead and splurged a little on lighting. I did as much research as I could to make sure this RAM would properly read on the Mboard I had purchased, but so far this RAM only reads as 1333 on the MBoard for some reason. I'm sure there's a way to tweak it and fix it but I haven't attempted to yet. Honestly, the system is running so fast I haven't really been tempted to. From what I've researched, the difference between 1600 and 1333 is pretty unnoticeable.

I do plan to mess around with overclocking eventually but likely only to about 4.5Ghz. As of now I'm more than satisfied with the speed I'm running at, so it's not as tempting yet.

I also purchased the blue light bar kits that went with this so my lights are now blue. I like them but feel that I could have easily found a way to modify the light bars on my own. And even though they're simple to install, the plastic light bars are pretty flemsy and would be easy to break. Either way, the RAM looks nice, run cool, and seem to work well -- despite the speed issue.

My specs -

Awesome looking RAM.. Nothing wrong with em and came when I ordered them... Tall soo if you have lets say a hyper 212 evo then they will hit your cooler if you dont have 4 slots.. I did and only used 2 of em sooo worked out great.. If using a stock cooler of water cooler you should be fine..

Here is so far what I gathered

People here have said it had issues or product given not as claimed.

My understanding told me these are 1333MHz stock all memories comes in like that especially the higher MHz you find nowadays. You get 1600MHz because you have to OC it to that point via BIOS (old days) or UEFI for it is proper name for the tech used. You should use it at 1333MHz for you memory test to ensure it's stable then run OCed at 1600MHz would be correct.

Read all 16 GB Windows7 Ult 64bit and BIOS

Conclude after OCed at 1600MHz memory test result showed no error newly opened and install.

Tech savvy latency reads 9, 9, 9, 24
DRAM Frequency @ 799.9MHz
FSB:DRAM 1:12
Row Refresh Cycle time (tRFC) @ 208 clocks

Chip dependent I will not eliminate that doubt for you. However I stated it's early to tell for me so far I give this result good to excellent on my standard. Should first BSOD shows I'll note.

Hope this still guided your choice despite lack of sufficient tested time.

If you are looking for sold Ram this is one to consider for sure. However there is faster/cheaper alternatives such as G.Skill with a bit less eye candy. I don't want to make it sound like I dislike Corsair or regret buying this product by any means. So the bottom line is.. Corsair Ram is still well worth buying and the Platinum might even be worth the added cost. But a 25% premium is only really worth it to those who really want to use Link Commander or desire the unique appearance.

This ram has increased in price by about 30% the past six months. I was planning to get another set but due to limited stock the price jumped almost 15% soon after purchase. Waited for stock levels to catch up and ever since the Platinum has continued to rise. Meanwhile there is only one reliable source (which is not Amazon) for the light bar (color) kits and other (Link) accessories. I expected Amazon to be fully stocked on color bars long before now. But to date they don't even stock the Corsair Link Commander which is one of the main selling points of this product. So it seems Amazon is telling me to basically shop elsewhere if I want real selection where real customization is concerned. It's understandable that not everyone buying this ram is an Enthusiast but Amazon can honestly do better.

Now for the biggest and only con (IMHO) is that Corsair simply is not on top of the game anymore. Support is no where near the same level it used to be in years past. You would be lucky to even get a Corsair rep on the phone or get a reply to your email within in a few days. This is becoming a real issue with Corsair whom I used to swear by for so many years. Still this ram and Corsair PSU's are top quality and the sinks with this product are like nothing else on the market.
