The fully modular Corsair AX860i uses a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) for tighter voltage regulation, which improves overall system stability, and increases performance to 80 PLUS Platinum levels. Built-in Corsair Link gives you unprecedented monitoring and control. Upgrading to digital provides increased efficiency. The AX860i is certified 80 PLUS Platinum, which results in lower heat generation and a quieter fan profile. The AX860i is so efficient that the 120mm fan doesn’t even spin at low loads for completely noiseless power delivery. The built-in Corsair Link functionality allows you to know how well your AX860i is working at any given moment and lets you quickly tweak its performance. Server-inspired diagnostic tools monitor real-time efficiency, power usage, configurable over-current protection points and fan profiles

From the Manufacturer
The revolutionary AXi Series PSUs are the first desktop PC power supplies to use digital (DSP) control and Corsair Link to bring you an unprecedented level of monitoring and performance customization. The DSP in the AX860i makes on-the-fly adjustments for incredibly tight voltage regulation, 80 PLUS Platinum Efficiency, and clean, stable power.
Real-time monitoring and control with Corsair Link
Put the AX860i under your control by connecting it directly to a USB header on your motherboard with the included cable, or to a Corsair Link Commander (available separately). Then, download the free Corsair Link Dashboard software for unrivaled power supply monitoring and control options.
Monitor power input and output, efficiency, fan speed, and internal temperature, directly from the Windows based application. Or, take it to the next level and set up and modify fan speed profiles, or even select from virtual “single rail” or “multi-rail” software modes, with selectable OCP points.
Stable and Reliable Power Delivery
DSP-controlled, real-time voltage regulation helps ensure that your valuable components receive clean, stable power.
Less Heat and Lower Operating Cost
AX860i's extreme efficiency earns it coveted 80 PLUS Platinum certification. Less wasted power means minimal excess heat. This can reduce the strain on your other components, and it can save you money over the long run in the form of lower power bills.
Quiet Operation at low loads
Super-high efficiency has another benefit: silence. The thermally-controlled fan doesn't even spin at low loads. It's ideal if you're building a quiet PC or you just want to reduce the amount of ambient noise in your life.
Easy installation and cable routing, with better airflow
The fully modular cable set allows you to use only the cables you need, and the flat design makes cable routing much easier in tight spaces. You get a clean-looking system build with cables out of the airflow path for efficient space usage that's energy efficient as well.
An ultra-quiet, 140mm double ball-bearing fan delivers excellent airflow with exceptionally low noise levels by varying fan speed in response to temperature.
The AX860i is so efficient that the fan doesn't spin up until you're pushing your system hard. And, fan speed thresholds can be adjusted with Corsair Link.
Are you used to checking to see if the fan spins to verify if your power supply is working? No worries. AX860i has a self-test switch to verify proper functionality before you install.

Using the logging capabilities I plotted my unit's efficiency and included it here. You can see it matches their claim well. I attribute low wattage inefficencies to start up and shut down. Otherwise, my results match their spec's claim with 93% max efficency at 414 Watts.
The fan stays completly off at low heat, which is great. When it turns on it is very quiet.
Finally note that this power supply may be the largest wattage available in the smaller, "regular", form factor size. I cant fit the larger supplies with my radiator, so I luckily ended up with this power supply.
High quality build, heavy duty parts.
Full watt spec on 12V rail.
High wattage for small form factor.
"i" series has unique data collection capabilities.
Quiet, cool, and efficent operation. Zero fan speeds at low heat.
Expensive. Thats all I can think of. Rarely goes on sale or has special deals.
Edit - At this price point standard sleeved cables should be included.
This is a very top line consumer power supply with extra cpabilities. If you can justify the cost, you will probably be very happy with the supply. I am.
Plus customer service is a complete joke! They made promises they didn't' keep, then would not reply to any of emails. My advice is to AVOID at all cost!
Compared to AX1200i, this PSU is about 10cm longer, so after installing all connectors you may face some cramped space in your PC case where PSU is located. Based on my experience, Corsair 900D case may run into this cramped space issue when you decide to install both 480mm AND 240mm radiators in the bottom chamber. In fact, you probably won't be able to fit 240mm radiator and this PSU on the same side because I struggled a bit when installing 240mm radiator and this PSU on the STH10 (it was tight, but I was able to get both components squeezed in while minimizing pressures on the connectors). So if I struggled with STH10, then my experience tells me that such an installation is not possible on Corsair 900D because the bottom chamber is smaller for this case when compared to that of STH10. But then again, this shouldn't be too much of a problem for people since the space issue can easily be resolved with smart build design modification. That being said, if you are building a PC anything less than a full ATX, no sli nor crossfire setup, maxed out RAM, extreme CPUs etc., you should probably go with other PSU models because this is clearly an overkill for anything less. My current build includes two R9 295X2. YES, TWO! And those who are aware, that VGA is power hungry. Yet, with this PSU there's still enough headroom. When my PC is on, the fan on the PSU does not even turn on. But the fan does kick in during heavy load, especially when gaming on 4k resolution and both VGAs are being fully utilized. Still, no shortage of power here.
My only problem is not directed at this PSU, but the option it provides. Specifically, the Corsair Link. Corsair really need to fix that God awful device or completely scrap the concept in its entirety. The software for Corsair Link is still unbearable to use and trying to get it to work properly is like pulling teeth. But to cover all basis, this PSU does allow the option to tap the Corsair Link functionality for monitoring power usage purposes. But I doubt most will connect this PSU to the Link especially since an alternative option is available - you can monitor either via Corsair Link or via internal USB which connects directly to your motherboard. I think most users will opt for the latter and the necessary USB connector is included. Strangely, Corsair did not include a Link adapter with this PSU, unlike AX1200i which does include the Link adapter and the connector.
