Product Description

Neutron Series SSDs deliver both super-high IOPS Important for data intensive tasks like video and image editing as well as superior sequential read speeds for lightning fast file access. The state of the art LAMD LM87800 processor delivers phenomenal real world performance and impressive read speed regardless of data type, breaking new ground for SSD benchmark. Compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows Vista, Windows XP and Linux laptop and desktop systems

From the Manufacturer

Neutron Package

Neutron Series GTX is Corsair's flagship line of SSDs, designed for high-end desktop and notebook PCs. Powered by an advanced Link_A_Media (LAMD) SATA 3 SSD controller, the GTX excels at both random read/write speeds and sequential write speeds, and provides amazing responsiveness for all types of data-intensive work.

Overview

Designed for Multi-Multi-Tasking.

Neutron Series GTX is designed to support complex data-intensive work that involves accessing multiple files simultaneously — video production, large-scale graphics editing, or running multiple office applications at once. Neutron GTX’s extremely high random IOPS performance gives you the nearly instantaneous response you need for your high-end desktop or notebook PC.

Save fast, save often.

Neutron GTX’s flagship credentials include incredibly fast sequential write speeds, regardless of file type. SSDs compress data on the fly as they save, and many solid-state drives slow down significantly when writing data that’s already compressed.

Neutron GTX is different: saving large videos and images happens so quickly, the first time it happens, you might have trouble believing that it’s really working.

Neutron dimensions
The 7mm height is compatible with the latest generation of slim notebook designs. (larger image)
Performance that pushes the limits of SATA 3 6Gb/s

Neutron Series GTX is designed to take full advantage of the latest high-speed standard to get the most performance out of the latest PCs. It’s also fully backward compatible with SATA 2.

Broad compatibility with PCs, notebooks, and ultraslim notebooks

Neutron Series GTX SSDs follow the universal 2.5” standard, and easily mount in desktop PCs with 2.5” drive bays. Or, mount it in a hard drive bay using the included 3.5” adapter.

The 7mm form factor fits both standard notebooks as well as the latest generation of slim notebook designs. If you’re considering upgrading your notebook to something slimmer, your Neutron can move with it.

Features

Professional-grade LAMD SSD controller

The LAMD controller is designed to deliver both super-high IOPs — important for data-intensive tasks like video and image editing — as well as superior sequential read speeds for lighting fast file access.

Great sequential read speeds, regardless of file type

SSDs compress and decompress files on the fly. Some solid-state drives hit a performance bottleneck when opening files that can’t be further compressed. This includes video, audio, and image files — and if your PC is also your entertainment center or you work with media files as part of your job, lesser SSDs can slow you down. The real-world performance design focus of the Neutron Series GTX means impressive file loading times even with non-compressible data.

Install it almost anywhere

Neutron Series GTX follows the universal 2.5” standard, for quick installation into most notebooks. It fits into place on newer PCs which have built-in 2.5” drive support, and with the included 3.5” adapter, you can install it in a standard hard drive bay.

Many newer slim notebooks get that way at the expense of height restrictions for SSDs. Neutron GTX is just 7mm high, so it can go where some other SSDs can't.

Built for SATA 3 6Gb/s

Neutron Series GTX is designed to support the latest high-speed standard to get the most performance out of the latest PCs. It’s also fully backward compatible with SATA 2.

Maintains its Performance Over Time

Neutron Series GTX SSDs support the Windows 7 TRIM command. This allows them to store only the data they need and perform memory optimization to ensure the fastest possible write speeds.

Solid-State Reliability

Because SSDs have no moving parts, they can handle shock, vibration and temperature changes far in excess of traditional hard drives. That's important for desktop PCs, and essential for notebooks.

Cool and Quiet, with Low Power Consumption

Traditional mechanical hard drives spin at thousands of revolutions per minute. This takes power, and generates noise and heat. Since SSDs have no moving parts, there's no noise or vibration, and the lower power consumption helps keep things cool inside your PC. It can also save battery life on notebooks.

Up to this date you have 4 best choices of SSDs and i have tried them all:

1) OCZ Vertex 4 256GB. (Fastest one BUT NOT Reliable)
2) Corsair Neutron Series GTX 240GB. (Second Fast & Reliable)
3) Intel 520 Series 240 GB.(Slower than the above two BUT Most Reliable)
4) SAMSUNG 830 Series 2.5-Inch 256GB. ( Reliable & good price BUT slower than all of the above) <<< Samsung Fanboys will hate me for this BUT it is the trouth

You can find all reviews and benchmark for all of the above on YouTube, or you can just choose to trust me :)

Update: I just found out that Samsung 840 SSD has been released few days ago.

Hello,

This hard drive is a little pricey. However, it is super super fast. Windows indexes at 7.9. You cannot go wrong with this drive!!!!! I did a lot of research. While the Corsair Force Series is very good. This drive is a just a little better. If money isn't the object, and raw performance is what you wish. GET THIS DRIVE.

Neutron GTX is fast when it comes to bootup time, program launching, program installation, etc. Like other SSD's, the realworld performance are almost the same. It all boils down to the benchmark performance where one SSD is faster than another.

I did a fresh install of windows 7 (I prefer a fresh install, than cloning) and after an hour with the driver installation and windows updates, this thing is fast!

Now the controller, Corsair is the first one to use the Link A Media Devices (LAMD) LM87800 controller. This is a new challenger to Marvell and SandForce controller and from web reviews, its got a punch. Normally, it's the controller having problems and issues, and since LM87800 is new to the market, the big unknowns are reliability and compatibility, so far I don't have any problem with Neutron GTX, for now.. I hope it stays that way :)

5 year warranty is a nice addition, other competition only have 3 years.

I've been a fan of Corsair for years, mainly because of the quality, speed and reliability of their flash drives. I bought two of these drives mainly because I wanted the best I could find, and Corsair delivers.

The Neutron GTX Series is not for everyone. It's a bit more expensive per gigabyte than their other drives. The main reason is that this series not only has fast read and write speeds, but they also feature very high transactions per second ratings. This means that these drives work well under pressure. So, when you are multi-tasking or pulling data from multiple places at once, these drives excel.

In addition, unlike many SSDs that slow down with compressed data, these drives have exceptional performance with compressed files.

There is no better way to increase the speed of your computer than moving from a traditional drive to solid state. I installed mine in a Late 2011 MacBook Pro 17". The difference in speed is night and day.

If you are looking for a super fast drive, look no further. Make sure you have 6gbs interface on the laptop to fully experience the read/write speeds of this drive.
This happens to be 7mm so no problems on installing on any laptops that I can think of.

I did a fresh install of my OS Win 7 Pro and this thing just fly's. Fact that it comes with a 5 yr warranty is surely an added bonus.

Would have to say this thing beats my Samsung, and OCZ SSD drives when it comes to performance and speed.

Another in a long line of Corsair SSD's I use. This one in the main boot/program drive in a Windows 7 Professional computer. I have had good experiences with Corsair SSD's and memory recommend them highly.

Once installed; this is invisible to me.. and not likely to become visible ever again; even when I scrap the machine in favor of a better one in 18 months or so when a better miracle comes along.... As for performance.. This is a miracle.. A few years ago, I couldn't conceive of such a thing.. Hard to believe it is true...

Well, I'm relatively new to SSDs, I installed a 120GB Samsung 830 series in my netbook a few months ago just to give me an idea of the performance and reliability of SSDs before installing one on my PC and I was surprised by the performance. So, I decided to venture out and install an SSD in my main computer. I chose the GTX Neutron 240GB because I readed many positive reviews on this particular model. Also, considering that the new memory controller (LAMD) seemed to be really stable and powerfull.
I have to say that the ssd itself feels a little cheap (compared to my Samsung 830), but I dont really care about it since the important components are inside.
After building my new rig I immediately realized that this 240GB NeutronGTX's performance is excellent. Obtained a result of 7.9 in the Windows Experience Index, Windows 7 boots in just 15 seconds and apps load really fast. I'm getting an overall score of 995 in AS SSD Benchmark:

-Seq: Read: 498.04MB/s Write: 465.45MB/s
-4K Read: 21.50MB/s Write: 43.84MB/s
-4k-64Thrd: Read: 323.80MB/s Write: 302.54MB/s
-Acc.time: Read: 0.104ms Write: 0.075ms
-Score Read: 395 Write: 393

As you can see, it is also very balanced between read and write performance and so far has remained stable with zero BOSDs (I have been using it daily for more than a week).
Prices for SSDs are now pretty good and if you want one of this, just buy it! Trust me on this, It is a really satable, fast and reliable SSD at a good price.
