From the Manufacturer

The advanced design of the SP120 provides the higher static pressure that radiators and heatsinks demand, while maintaining a quiet noise profile. Seven ultra-wide, custom-molded blades deliver high static pressure, and the customized fan enclosure helps airflow move in the right direction. The rubber mounts and the advanced hydraulic bearing system combine high reliability with low-noise operation. Three included colored rings allow you to customize the look of the fan to match the rest of your hardware.

The wide body, low-pitch blades are custom-molded for high static pressure air delivery with low noise, while rubber corners reduce vibration and noise.
High Static Pressure for Efficient Cooling on Radiators or Heatsinks

Cooling today’s high-performance PCs is a complex task, and a single fan design can’t meet every need. The fan you use to exhaust hot air out of your case might not be the best fan to mount flush against a heatsink or radiator.

Static pressure is the measure of how well a fan can push air in this type of highly restrictive environment, and this is where the SP120 excels. It’s an ideal solution for radiator and heatsink use, as well as drive bay intakes, and other locations where you’re mounting a fan directly adjacent to a heat source.

For high-volume cooling in less restrictive environments, like case exhaust or side intakes, check out our AF series of high-volume fans.

I really like the Corsair "Quiet Edition"fans; I replaced all of the fans in my new Corsair Vengeance Series Military Green C70 Mid Tower Computer Case (CC-9011018-WW) with "Quiet Edition" fans.

You can find out all the technical details about Corsair fans at the Corsair website (Products, Cooling, Air Series Fans). There are two lines of fans: the "Performance Edition" fans and the "Quiet Edition" fans. As these names imply, the former have higher air flows while the later operate more quietly (at lower air flows).

There are two "Quiet Edition" models: the AF model and the SP model. The AF model is used when air flow is unrestricted (such as the exhaust fan at the back of the case); the SP model is used when air flow is restricted (such as air flow through drive bays or through a radiator/cooler).

The AF120 and the SP120 are 120 mm fans while the AF140 is a 140 mm fan: Corsair Air Series AF120 Quiet Edition Single Fan (CO-9050001-WW), Corsair Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition Single Fan (CO-9050005-WW), Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition Single Fan (CO-9050009-WW). The AF120 and SP120 are also sold in "twin packs":

I honestly found my way to Corsair through Linus Tech Tips on YouTube and his unboxing and review taught me how to look at fans and how to purchase the specific fans for each specific application. Corsair makes the AF and SP fans and both do different things. Each comes with a performance and a quiet edition. What I found amazing was that regardless of the high performance versions or the quiet versions, the fans came with voltage step downs that helped you drop the fan RPMs even more. I bought High Performance SP120 fans to run a push pull on my Corsair H80i all enclosed water cooler on an overclocked I5 3750K Intel processor now running at 4.2Ghz. I used the step down voltage cables Corsair included to get the RPMs down to a very quiet 1000 RPMs using Corsair Link software on the radiator of the H80i. What I found was at top RPMs the performance versions were loud sure, but at 1000 rpms they became whisper quiet. I can still hear them but that is because I am running a fan controller for my case fans which are all quiet AF120 Corsair fans and they are seriously quiet already. The goal was to get a solid temp for the CPU running at 4.2Ghz with the H80i but keep it in a quiet profile and I can honestly say I run Prime 95 CPU stress tests for 30 minutes and only hit 60 degree C once and never over 60 degrees C. That is some serious power by Corsair to keep things cool. All my Corsair fans run at the lowest RPM possible and I can maintain a steady 30 Degrees C inside the case. Corsair makes strong, reliable, and seriously high quality products and backs them up with big warranties. I trust them to keep my gaming rig cool and performing top notch. I highly recommend anyone using a liquid all in one cooler like the H80i or other all in ones to go with Corsair SP120 quiets.Read more ›

I bought these fans to replace the 200mm fan in the top of my case. (see Photos) Very good quality black plastic with rubber grommets in the mounting holes.

They also push a lot of air. Fairly quiet unless I turn up my fan controller to high. But I blame that on the fact that the 600T case has a dust cover over the fans.

I would highly recommend these fans if you want the ability to move a lot of air and look good while doing it.
Corsair quality really shines through. "2 Thumbs up, 5 star rating!"

Fans are of excellent quality and are very quiet. However, I purchased this kit to replace the fans on my H100 cooler because one failed and I wanted both fans to be the same. After installation I discovered that both fans will only run at one speed regardless of the H100 fan controller profile settings. I contacted Corsair tech support and they did tell me all of the SP and AF series fans will not recognize the H100 profiles but will only run at their rated speeds for 12 volts. Oh well. Temperatures are stable and good and I rarely changed fan controller settings. These fans are perfect for radiators on liquid cooling setups and are very nice to look at. The AF series fans I'm sure are also good. You just need to know that they will not recognize Corsair fan controller profiles.

This fan met our needs for exhausting stale air from a covered cat box through the wall to the great outdoors. We needed something to overcome the differential created when the wind is trying to blow against the exhaust flow. This one does the trick!
