Caused increasingly frequent crashes after one year

A little more than a year after installing this product, I began to get system crashes (darkened screen with message saying you must restart). It happened most often when watching video at news sites like CNN, or at web pages with animated advertisements, so I thought it was a problem with video based on Adobe Flash. The problem became increasingly frequent over the last few months to the point where it could occur about every 10 minutes no matter what the MacBook was doing.

I'd previously heard that RAM either works or it fails, so I didn't think the problem was the RAM. But before taking the MacBook in for repair ($$$), I did an experiment. I still had the old RAM, so I put it back in and went to a video-intensive news web page. No problem for nearly an hour. I've been using the computer for many hours now -- no crashes. Huh! Somehow this Corsair RAM has what may be an unusual and deceiving failure mode.

Upgraded my Apple MacBook Pro with 4Gb Mem from Corsair. Excellent product and my machine is quite fast now. I was afraid a lot that there might be problems with the product as happens in most of the MEM chip cases. I have a set of old SDRAM in boxes at home .

This products is excellent and goes well with the Apple laptops .Recommend this for a Cheap Solution for any newbie ready to install his own memory. Simple and easy to install as well with documentation on changing RAM available from the Apple Documents. All you need to know is how to Open screws and packages ;)

Exactly what I Paid for

This was purchased to speed up my Apple Mactop (Laptop). I had only 2 GB in the system and wanted to beef it up in the limited ways available for said brand of machines, and this was one. This was well reviewed RAM, so I purchased it.

For the time I owned the laptop, this RAM did exactly as expected, with no errors or faults. It was solid and fast at the time.

Didn't work for MacBook MB881LL/A (early 2009 - white polycarbonate)

I bought this to upgrade my newly bought MacBook. But what a disappointment. The memory was well recognized by the MacBook, but it started giving artifacts (horizontal lines on the display) and kernel panics (freezing of macbook and crashing) frequently whenever I'll connect it to an external hard drive. The Apple hardware test suggested fault with memory. I got it replaced with similar kit from Corsair, but new one didn't work either. I took my notebook to Apple store, just to make sure it does not have any other hardware issues, but the Genius there suggested it's the faulty memory. I sent it back again and waiting for another replacement. This time, I spoke to their tech support and they suggested another module with CL (Cas Latency) 5. I hope this works this time.

I must appreciate the Corsair customer support. They have been very helpful during this fiasco and well understood my problems.

EDIT (10/16): The new memory with CL 5 worked well and my MacBook has been running beautifully with 4 GB of RAM and with Snow Leopard for over a month now.

Works on PC

Works on my Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad T61. Passed memtest86+ 2.11 for more than 12 hours. Runs at 4-4-4-12. Easy package to open. But hard to get the RAM out (minor issue).

X months time later, the memory showed errors and I had random BSODs. Therefore, I RMAed the RAM with Corsair and got a replacement.

This Corsair 2X2 4G memory works just fine for my macbook pro. I bought it to upgrade my 1X1 2G memory came with my mac. Also Corsair has the [...] mail-in rebate at the time which makes it better with the reduced price. Much cheaper than you upgrade from Apple directly.
