From the Manufacturer

Vengeance Low Profile heat spreaders have a reduced height of 1.03-inches (26.25mm). They're designed for high-performance systems with extra-large CPU coolers, small form factor system builds, or any other space-constrained application where standard Vengeance memory might not fit.

Perfect For High Performance and Low Clearance

The low-profile heat spreaders allow for maximum installation flexibility.
Choose From 1.5V and 1.35V Models

1.5V Vengeance Low Profile DDR3 memory is designed to meet the memory specification of the 2nd Generation Intel Core processor family. The Special Edition Arctic White Vengeance Low Profile memory modules operate at the ultra-low voltage of 1.35V, for ultra-quiet systems and other low-voltage applications.

Low-Profile Heat Spreaders

Vengeance Low Profile heat spreaders have a reduced height of 1.03" (26.25mm). They're designed for high-performance systems with extra-large CPU coolers, small form factor system builds, or any other space-constrained application where standard Vengeance memory might not fit.

Great for Overclocking

Each Vengeance memory module is built from DRAM ICs specially selected for performance potential, to allow you to explore the limits of system overclocking.

If you're new to overclocking, full support for Intel Extreme Memory Profile (Intel XMP) makes it easy. Add Vengeance to your XMP-compatible system and it can automatically select the maximum possible overclocking performance, quickly and easily.

Customize your look with your choice of Jet Black, Cerulean Blue, or Special Edition Arctic White.

I chose this memory for my first build because it was cheap and from a well known brand. I also liked that it didn't have the big heat-sinks like on the regular Vengeance RAM which allows room for aftermarket CPU heat-sinks. My PC is used mainly for gaming and Netflix, and 8 GB is more than enough for those needs. The only problem I had was the BIOS detecting them as 1333 mHZ instead of 1600, but a quick change in the BIOS fixed that that. Changing the frequency to 1600 mHz also increased the timings from 9-9-9-24 to 11-11-11-2?, so i had to manually change them as well, so be on the lookout for that. The timings issue is from my BIOS though and says nothing bad about the RAM. It works flawlessly; definitely recommended.

UPDATE (28 Dec. 2012): No problems after more than a year. I eventually brought the frequency back down to 1333MHz and was able to tighten the timings to 7-8-7-22. Stable, no problems.

UPDATE (5 Feb. 2015): Still going strong. Now being used with an i5 3570k and z77 motherboard and XMP profile loads automatically. No problems at all; this is some durable memory.

The main advantage this RAM brings to the table is the Low Profile Heat Spreader attached to the DIMMS. If you are working in a cramped case (like myself, Silverstone FT-03) or are planning to use a large aftermarket cooler, this is the memory for you!

The RAM includes an intel X.M.P. profile for easy configuration. Just configure your motherboard to use the X.M.P profile and you will automatically have your timings and voltages configured for you.

I ran Memtest86+ for 5 hours with no errors, so there should be no problems in terms of reliability and longevity.

I am planning to purchase another 8GB kit down the road, but for now 8GB's will do fine.

There is also a low voltage model that comes with white heat spreaders.

I was going to buy vengeance normal, but I had already bought a Noctua CPU cooler, so decided to buy this so the cooler would fit fine, I can say this worked like a boss.

Ordered late Monday, arrived Thursday along with 4 other components using standard shipping. The remaining all showed up Friday. As usual, Amazon did a great job combining orders and I paid maybe $30 shipping in total, for everything. I installed the following, and this part was compatible:

ASUS P8Z68-V/Gen3 motherboard
Intel Core i5-2500K CPU
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler (RR-212E-20PK-R1)
Antec Nine Hundred Two V3 case
Corsair 60GB Force Series 3 SATA III 6Gb/s 2.5 inch SSD
Lite-On Lightscribe 24x SATA DVD
WD Caviar Black 500 GB SATAIII 7200 RPM 32 MB cache OEM
Corsair TXM V2 Series 650W 80+ Bronze modular power supply
Windows 7 64 bit OEM
Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 8 GB PC3 1600 mhz DDR3 memory
My old WD HDD SATAII 7200 RPM from previous PC
MSI GeForce GTX560 Ti 1GB DDR5 Twin Frozr II OC

This works nicely with my mobo setting on XMP. Fit nicely in the slots, sturdy and solid. Booted right up with no memory errors.

The thing I liked about these sticks is that it fits nicely under my CPU cooler with no clearance issues. I think the extreme epeen fins on some of the RAM may look fancy, but may not clear your CPU cooler if you're using air cooling. Particularly if you try to slot them in the first slot next to the CPU. These low profile barely clear the fins on the hyper 212 when put in slot one, in this mobo. So if you're considering buying the taller sticks, take this into consideration.

I'm overclocked to 4.5ghz with two 120mm front fans, 1 120mm rear fan, and a 200mm top fan and my mobo and cpu temps are barely above room temp at idle and never come close to any danger zone even at max settings stress testing using Intel Burn Test.

Nothing much to say, it's RAM. I had one 2x8gb kit of these for about 8 months now and they never had any problems. Just recently upgrade my rig with a new PSU and a second GPU so I decided to grab another kit since I was in there anyway. Plus the prices have dropped a decent bit since I ordered the first kit (On sale for $77.99 at the time). I like that it's low profile and has a nice clean look, fits fine under my Noctua NH-D15. Big reason why I wanted this non big heatsink one.

No problems as far as reliability or crashing from these, set to XMP and forget.

All is testing out OK on my new build, with only one wrinkle; my mobo identifying these 1600 MHz rated ram chips as running at 1333 MHz. A slight overclocking adjustment and they are running fine again at 1600 MHz. At some point, I will probably OC even slightly higher, but for now all test evaluations are running well.

Using in new build with Core i7-4770k cpu for moderately heavy video/audio editing with of course, general MS Office applications. During research and component selection I had some concern about ram chips with large static heat radiating fins so I used these low profile dimm chips. I needn't have worried, there is plenty of room even with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO chip cooling fan next to the dimm slots.

Using ASUS Z87-PRO mobo to control the cpu fan speed. Corsair Carbide 600T silver chassis and stock fans, with Thermaltake Grand 850W Gold 80+ PS, 2 dimms 8GB ram, and EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti PCIe graphics card. Two HDD's for files and one boot SDD (raid 0 array). Total system is much better for value and performance than I could purchase from HP or Dell. I wanted to stay with better components than I could get in pre-built systems, for about the same finished price.

System performs beautifully (even with the new-to-me awkward WIN8.1 OS) and is much quieter than I had been experiencing from pre-built systems over the last 15 years. I'm glad I took the time to research components, and make this first build from scratch.
