As of right now, with an 1800x, and Asus Crosshair vi Hero, the highest I can clock the memory is 2666Mhz. It should also be noted that I bought 2 of the 16GBx2 packs to get 64GB of ram. Hopefully a future bios update will allow for 3000Mhz.
Also, the corsair lighting software doesn't recognize the sticks, so they are stuck pulsing on and off.
So I guess the moral of the story is, make sure your components are compatible with this RAM. Check the motherboard page for RAM support so you don't have to wait for BIOS updates.
Update 5/28/2017: Corsair link software update makes the lighting work again, and there was an update for my motherboard's bios that allowed me to clock my ram at 3000Mhz.
Very pretty, the RGB strip I think looks very good, it's perfect, to match my build I made it static and blue. That's really the only pro, and we all know that looks don't matter unless it also performs good.... Which it doesn't and I'll explain below.
Paired with my ASUS B350 Strix-f, and the 1800x, I've ran into capability issues. The system is very unstable, DOES NOT run at 3200, it will not even run at 3200, system will crash, it defaults down to 2133 (default for motherboard) and even then is pretty unstable. I cannot find a good speed to keep it from crashing.
It is a Hynix 8gb die, meaning it has problems with Ryzen, not to mention it seems corsair doesn't buy higher binned chips anyways. Running at 2133 seems to slow the entire system down, with my 1800x and 1080ti, it's not running nearly as fast as it should be. I guess I will be returning and buying a set with a Samsung die, unless in the next few days it gets fixed with a BIOS update.
Update - Bios has been updated on the motherboard to F4 that was released. Ram now runs at 3200 with XMP profile with no issues. Passed 3D Mark stress tests
*Note. They offered me extended time to return but that still leaves me without it for months. Never had a bad product from Amazon before :(
- Was the cheapest DDR4 3000 16gb on the Black Friday.
- Not very good for Ryzen, I had a lot of trouble to get this to 2933 mhz.
- It has Hynix chips.
If you are going to buy this and use with Ryzen, keep in mind you can only increase the speed if you set CL14.
It won't boot if you set the clock to anything above 2400mhz and increase to CL15, CL16, CL18, CL20.
