Wow! I loved this cd!!!! I don't know about anyone else, but I really enjoyed the straight ahead, this is what we want you to know type of sound. Now don't get me wrong I like Aquarium Rescue Unit, Government Mule, and Allman Bros. jams as much as the next music head, but ya know if you want the perfect cruising cd or just somethin' fun and funky to listen to with anyone this is it! I played this for a bunch of my friends...most of which like that dreaded 'hip hop' and even they got into it...especially tunes like Steel Rider and Space Rooster. I mean this cd is just filled with absolutely astounding licks and Wasserman's bass work is phenomenal! Of course no one can ever say enough for Sipe or T. Lavitz' outstanding abilities. All in all I think this is a very amazing band, and I would love to hear them put out another cd...

I have been a jazz/fusion guy for a while now. Sure, I like other styles, rock, blues, funk, etc, but I LOVE this cd, and stuff like it. I love wah wah guitar, the funkier the better, and this cd has it. I first heard Cosmic Farm on Pandora, and looked them up, and bought this cd,and Im so glad I did. Great stuff. I hope they put out more cds.

This is a very interesting and unique combination of players that

is sometimes heavy, sometimes funky and kicks serious butt.

Sounds like classic Jeff Beck, etc. and the band plays together

with a great feel on cuts like Attitude Cat and Forecast. Some

of the guitar work is super melodic and soulful and sometimes

sassy and funky in a Mike Stern with Miles type mode.Hot stuff!

The only downside is the mix seems off at times with keyboards

buried or harsh guitar tones that are too loud.

But the drums sound killer and the bass and electric bassoon

have some cool and crazy episodes.Very unique players for sure!

This outer space harvest definitely captures some of the spirit

of the 70's but adds something new to the mix.

It's not as fresh and off-kilter as Aquarium Rescue Unit, but the playing is solid and the songs are mostly pretty strong. The real surprise here is Rob Wasserman, who plays with guts and funk that I never would have suspected he had from listening to his solo CDs. And Jeff Sipe's unerring drums make the whole thing get up and go. Craig Erickson's plays some really great guitar, but between the tone he's using and the overcompressed mix, his instrument ends up sounding like a kazoo. And that guitar sound is emblematic of the one drawback to an otherwise excellent CD: the recording has way, way too much compression and a completely dead acoustic. It sounds like it was recorded in a giant pillow. And that robs the music of its life and spontaneity and sense of interplay, which is, after all, what jazz is all about. It seems like every fusion recording I hear is mixed the same way, and I can't understand why. Other forms of jazz are usually recorded with a live acoustic and natural sounding instruments, so why is fusion all about compression and separation? But even with the recording considerations, this is still worth having because of the great playing and strong songs.
