Seriously, unless you're a combat photographer, you're not going to let your lenses be exposed to anything you don't have to so fingerprints and dust on lenses is meat for these cloths and if you're cleaning camera lenses, these will satisfy your every need on the cheap. Buy them. Done. This is not, however, my primary application for them.
I use them on everything from my glasses to the screens of my devices. I own a pile of personal electronics with screens on them that collect fingerprints, dust and skin-grease as if by magic and I don't know about you but I find big greasy streaks totally destructive to my concentration. I need cleaning cloths to remove them and these cloths are very good for a quick polish, either used dry or sprayed with a little Zeiss lens-cleaner (put it on the cloth, not directly on the screen or lenses) but for the kinds of applications I use them for, they need cleaning more often than I am used to. The amounts of dust and dirt my glasses, iMac, iPad, Kindle Fire, iPod Touch and cellular phone are exposed to rapidly overwhelms the soft, delicate weave that makes these so great for cleaning and leaves them re-depositing grease and dust on the surfaces I need to be clean.
This is not to say these cloths are bad. Far from it. They are exactly as advertised: highly-effective lens cleaning cloths, made inexpensive because they're not specialized photographic tools. They're good, but they must be *clean* and unless you're going to keep a pile of them around, so you have spares ready while your others are in the laundry, you will rapidly find them losing their effectiveness between washings. They *DO* offer the wonderful advantage over other cloths of being so thin that you can fold them up and keep a couple in a zip-locked sandwich bag in your pocket.
Bottom line: For wiping dust or fingerprints off of lenses, or occasionally polishing the screens of your devices, these cloths work are greatl, but if your'e going to use them for computer- and device screens on a daily basis as I do, you should be prepared to launder them often and have enough of them around for you not to pick one up, find it making things worse, and having nothing else to turn to. These are great for lenses but for day-in-day out use where you expect the cloth to get dirty quickly, the sort of microfiber cloths people put to automotive use (sold here on Amazon!) might be an equally effective solution that is less sensitive to dust and grease.
All in all, I like them and I'm thinking of buying a second set, in part to replace the one I gave to a fellow iPad-mini owner.
