Seems to me these "books" are just dragging along now. I have read each one and think they would have been better in a two or three book series instead of 14 short stories. Cost of lies really was not anything like it could have been. Wilma is a character that is very had to like. These stories are just not very interesting anymore.

Cost Of Lies (The Amish Bonnet Sisters book 13) by Samantha Price. The Amish Bonnet Sisters series is about a father's death and a grieving mother left to raise a step daughter and 6 daughters, courting, weddings, babies, learning of secrets, disappointments, moving away from home and the closeness sisters share. The six sisters thought their half sister was to rough on them at times because she was having to be mom but learning when they get older that she done more for them than anyone has. And when they need some one to talk to as they get older she is the one. And when they have good news she is the one. You have 1 of the sisters to leave the community and the sisters still go to her but they are suppose to shun her because she married a Englisher.

Mother remarries and gains a step daughter. At this time, 4 sisters take care of it and have a great crop every year because that was what the family income come from. When her dad died they thought their was no will so when she married a Englisher they told her she could not help with the orchard. This caused a lot of pain and heartache.

The Englisher that she married had a secret about her Mother and s He finds out and she don't want to have anything to do with him at first but it looks like she may be coming around.

The Mother has a big secret and she hopes no one will ever find out. But like most secrets it comes out and she wants to put blame on everybody but herself. Her youngest daughter finds out the truth and she begs her not to tell her husband and about that time her husband walks in and demands she tells him the truth. He gets upset and mad. He told his wife to fix it. To go make what she done wrong, right. Next thing you know he is in the hospital fighting for his life because he had a heart attack.

Here is the step dad finally getting a little closer to the sisters. Things took a while for girls to give him a chance. When he first married their mother, he toaaald the girls that they all had to get a job and all the money went to him for the home. And they still had to do their choirs. They had gradually started working together. All the girls are worried about him.

Dad is refusing the surgery and tells his wife to fix the thing that she lied about. The step-sister had been mad and demanding about getting the orchard or just wanting to help take care of it or wanting to buy it so they will have money.

Is step dad going to live? Is the deal with the apple orchard going to get settled? Is all the girls going to get married before the in of the series? (I hope so). I received an ARC from the Author in exchange for a honesty opinion.
