“Cotton Mill” is primarily arrangements of early 20th century American folk and country songs. “Banks of the Arkansas” is an upbeat song of place. “That’s All Right” is a chant with a bluesy feel. “Johnson Boys” is a country song. “On Seeing the Elephant” refers to a phrase used by American miners and pioneers, to refer to experiences both great and dismal.

“Cotton Mill” is a labor ballad written in 1930 by David McCarn. “Pig in a Pen” is a bluegrass song I’ve turned into a rocking blues tune. “Ain’t That Skippin’ and a Flyin’ “ was written by the Allen Brothers of Chattanooga. “Black-Eyed Suzie” is another old-time country tune.

“Woman Down in Memphis” was written by Carson Robison (1890-1957). “Country Blues” was recorded by Dock Boggs in the 1920s.
