Lilith comes from parents with no powers, but she lives in Ignis, one of the sections of the Land of Five, that deals with fire power and hopes to develop those powers. Instead, she has telekinesis, a power which generally resides in inhabitants of Mentis. She also has had a painful leg since childhood, the result of a magical accident with fire. However, the more she probes, the more she finds that the 'accident' wasn't what she's always been told. Her powers are a mystery too.
Lilith is feisty and brusque, but extremely interesting as a protagonist. She's very strong-willed, but not always morally right in her stands. When she is dragged into the Council, the ruling body of the Land of Five, she must develop her powers amid conflicting loyalties to her old friends and new associates.
I'm anxious to find out what happens in the next book. I'd recommend this book to lovers of paranormal, witches, fairies, and magic.
Although there are hints at a developing romance, it's a nice clean book, and will be enjoyable by teens and adults alike.
Disclosure: I received a free review copy of the book for the purpose of an honest review.
There is a nice cast of other characters that help move the story along. Two of these characters leave me wondering if there might be a love triangle in book two, but that is just me appraising some of their actions from book one.
My only complaint is this book needs some editing, admittedly that is a pet peeve of mine, but the story did keep me entertained. Over all I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading book two.
This book is about a girl named Lilith an UnEquipped, meaning no power. Just recently she finds out that she does have powers. There are five covens of witch's all with their own unique powers. Lilith begins a journey to figure out what powers she has, who she really is and where she belongs.
There are many characters in this book making it confusing at times. Lilith has two close friends Clio and Helena. I can't say I felt a connection with any of these characters, their personalities were flat and unlikable. Unfortunately this book wasn't to my liking. I will have to pass on the rest of this trilogy.
I give The Council 2 stars for its attempt to entertain.
I would not recommend this book.
