I was wondering how Casey would continue her story in the 1800's and what more she could go through way back when and Strauss totally mind f***ed me. Changing not the timeline to which she jumps was pure genius, and the way it was done was unexpected. Who would have thought that two travelers tripping at the same time would cause a glitch in the causality as well!
Can't wait for the next installment of the Clockwise adventure. I'm dying to know if she gets back to her original loop somehow.....
When Casey and Nate "trip" to the new time period, with a relationship that's grown just a bit rocky, they manage to set off events that have both their lives taking a turn for the worse. Will they fix the past so the present returns to their normal?
This was a great read for young and not so young! I can't wait for the next book!
Received ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was a little confused for a while, since there's not really a lot of explanation about Casey and her abilities or her relationship with Nate, so I spent a lot of time trying to figure things out. I mean, it wasn't terrible, there was definitely enough information there to understand what was going on and why it was such a big deal that Casey ends up in 1929 instead of 1860, but I just feel like reading the rest of the series first would have made this book more enjoyable.
Other than not knowing all of the information though, I actually really did enjoy this story. Casey is very immature, and it was kind of annoying how little she trusts Nate, but she usually did have a pretty good reason, so I couldn't hold it against her that much. It was fun to see her adapt to a new time period and try to figure everything out. I was happy for her that she didn't have to go about learning everything by herself, because I could see how that might be terrifying and awful.
This book is well written and I found myself not wanting to put it down! Luckily, it was relatively short, so I could read the whole thing in one setting. I was left wanting more, so I picked up the rest of the series as soon as I finished reading, and I can't wait to get a chance to read them! I'll definitely be looking for more from Elle Strauss, and would give this book a 3.5/5 (although I bet it will be higher once I read the other books and can pick up the subtle references!).
