"Beyond Tommy's ongoing struggle with injury and Careen's deep-seated anger, the novel introduces a host of secondary characters with their own senses of purpose and drive, rendering a mad world human. As with many dystopian settings, parts of the conspiracy strain the limits of believability, but the concept here is deeper and more complex than one might expect at first glance. The author delivers intriguing details about this fractured world, from the nuances of how the government divided the country into quadrants to the fact that the antidote contains a large quantity of LSD--a clever reference to America's real-life experimentation with the drug in Project MKUltra. There's much here to discover.
"An exuberant start to a promising new YA series about a totalitarian America."
Counteract by Tracy Lawson is a rather disturbing story, in the sense that you actually wouldn't put actions like that past the governments of the world. I found the plot very interesting, but also - as said before -disturbing. After all, the government already has quite a bit of influence on the people in a country, and not all governments use their power for good. This is a story that makes you think about the state of the world, and it makes you think about questioning decisions by the government. It encourages you to think for yourself and not be one of millions of mindless marionettes. If you like fiction with its roots in what could possibly happen, and if you like being entertained, then you should give the Resistance Series a shot.

Although I don't usually read dystopian novels, there was something about this novel that made me read it. From the very first chapter I realized that this one is a keeper. With strong characterization and development, this work does not look like it's a debut novel. It feels like the work of a far more experienced and well-versed writer. The fast paced story and the way it is written makes it more than a Young Adult novel. It is a novel that the YA adult me loved and read twice in 3days. A wonderful novel. I cannot wait for the next one!--Reviewed By Rabia Tanveer for Readers' Favorite
This book was very interesting. It really caught my attention from the start and I found myself fascinated with each of the characters. I wanted to find out even more and so I actually read this book quite quickly. The characters seemed realistic. They were willing to believe what they were told at first, like most people, but they slowly came to see that strange things were happening and not everything was as it seemed. I would definitely be interested to read more about these characters and much more about the situations they find themselves in.So I'll be looking for the next book when it's out. I recommend Counteract by Tracy Lawson to anyone who loves a good action and adventure story. It's got a little something for everyone.
