The book is not just any ordinary cookbook. It also provided a great perspective of a women's life in Mendocino country, in a very condensed manner. Jeanette is someone who moved from the Bay Area to the country back in late 1960s and the book tells how she turned a passion into a business with much hard work and dedication. I also appreciated the photos that were shared.. it was a great piece of work all in all.
Foreword was written by John and Margaret Parducci who funny enough, we stopped by the Parducci winery on our way home! However, we then learnt then it was sold to another company some years ago, and the Parducci now runs another winery called McNab Ridge in Ukiah, CA. We missed the tasting room today, but this can always be another excuse to visit again on the next occasion. Everything just ties in more of the other history and people of the area- something that taught a visitor to appreciates more of the time passing and real people of the era.
Of course, the recipes contents are very extensive and well organized. I am yet to try these recipes, but they sure made me hungry just from reading them. I am a HUGE fan of desserts and thats explains why i jumped to the Desserts section first. There are so many pies and cookies recipes that i know my oven will be working overtime very soon..
Each recipe is written in a concise fashion, with personal touch at the bottom at the end of each piece. Each section, appetizers/ entrees etc.. are divided by a cute Chef pig which is featured in the graphics on every page number too.. this is the central theme, celebrating this special woman who loved pigs!
This is a great piece of work. Debbie, i have an autographed copy in my hand. It is a precious book that adds to my treasured collection. Thank you.
