I don't normally read non-fiction books. Now after saying that,I must say this, I feel like I know Jean and her sweet husband Tim. They seem like loving, giving, nurturing, fun, romantic, and adventurous people who don't let life get them down. Jean tells her life story. It is a sweet tale of a woman's life who loses much, but gains as much with the treasures (family) she surrounds herself with. There are many up and downs throughout the book. I've never been to Worcestershire, UK, but I'd love to go there and add some of their adventures to my list. If anything I wish the author would have explained more about the country, (scenery and such) to get a better feel for UK living. I didn't understand some of the countries ways, (housing, ect) because I'm American, but love that Jean sees the good in all things around her.
If you want to read a sweet story of one woman's journey after 50 this is a story you might enjoy reading.
This book although a different time period, put me in mind of Housewife 49, which in future times will also be a glimpse into life of the time. No wars but survival all the same.
This book is well written and not cluttered by inappropriate imagery. I loved it! Pat McDonald British Crime author
I enjoyed this small glimpse into Jean Hill's life. It was interesting to see that even though she lives in the United Kingdom and I live in the United States that our lives are so similar. People are just people all over the world. We work, eat and enjoy spending time with our loved ones.
