If was nice to read about characters that had experienced life and learned from it, characters that were more mature. Yet Geralt and Cassandry still had their faults and insecurities. Geralt was a good, honorable man and a strong leader. He cared about others, and was very thoughtful when making decisions that would affect those around him. He is one of my all time favorite heroes! Cassandry was so kind and loving. She has gone through a lot in life, and it has scarred her. It was wonderful to watch her find herself again and begin to feel once more.
The relationships they had with their children were very real. They were full of love, but also conflict and some rebellion. Something a parent can definitely relate to! I loved that Cassandry’s sense of mothering extended to Rauffe almost immediately. They had a special relationship.
The story kept my interest throughout. I wanted to know what had happened in the past as well as what was happening in the present. Some things I partially figured out, and some I didn’t at all. The romance, the mystery and the story were well balanced. I loved the medieval setting! Joyce DiPastena knows her time period very well! And there is a glossary!!
This is the first full-length novel I’ve read by the author. I really enjoyed it, and found myself staying up to read “just a little longer.” I’m looking forward to reading more of her books!
I was given a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
COURTING CASSANDRY is a second chance at love story. Or is it? Do Gerolt and Cassandry have any chance? Now that they have reunited after losing their respective spouses, they have fallen in love. But their children are betrothed, which prevents them from marrying by the laws of the church. And, Gerolt desperately needs a young wife in case his son can't produce an heir. It's his duty. Circumstances conspire against them.
A happy ending seems impossible. How can Gerolt and Cassandry get their second chance?
