I love so many things about this series: the main character, Nichelle, with her enviable shoe collection, the ongoing subplots--love interests, office politics, and matchmaking--and of course the mysteries.
Walker dug deep with this story, tackling sensitive topics like the questionable motivates of pharmaceutical companies, hostage situations, and immigration. But she handled these so well! She didn't shy away from the complexities of each issue and managed to weave them seamlessly into a murder mystery with an incredibly rich backstory.
I enjoyed reading about return characters like Joey and Kyle as they continue to duel for Nichelle's heart, Parker and his advancing relationship with Mel, and of course Bob and the rest of the newspaper staff.
I highly recommend if you're looking for an edgier cozy, or if you like cozies that dig a little deeper. Can't wait to read Nicey's next adventure!
It's a slow news week for reporter Nichelle Clarke until she starts receiving cryptic messages on her computer and a murder moves things into high gear. Added to that, there is a hostage situation and another murder at the hospital. Nichelle's source at the police department, Aaron White, is being unusually tight lipped about releasing any information concerning the murders which makes Nichelle even more curious about what's going on.
I loved this book and read into the night until I made myself stop to get some sleep. The clues are finely knitted together to reach an amazing conclusion. This has got to be one of the best series out there. Each book in this series is good, and with each new one, they keep getting better and better. Lyndee Walker is a great writer, the plots are well developed and so are the characters. If you have never read this series, then I highly recommend that you do. You won't be disappointed.
