Beyond the gorgeous cover, readers get fiction’s fastest “romance-leading-to-weddin’,” not involving a loaded carbine. An equally fun inclusion is the introduction of a newly invented writing device—one I actually remember owning/using proudly. You get a NYC Central Park fried chicken picnic, a dogsled ride in Alaska’s Rockies, a Texas horse-riding lesson, and more, so let’s get going, “Mush!”
Caryl McAdoo is adapt enough to allow this book #8 to be read as a stand-alone . . .
BUT . . .
I strongly recommend, if you are just now starting “A Texas Romance” series that you begin with book #1, and progress in order. You miss out on too much Texan-heritage bliss any other way.
This eighth book is all connected but is four stories going on at once and jumps from one location and family to another, making it a very busy book. There are several love stories in the works. Even having read every story previously, at times, I felt just a little lost in the story, especially the way it jumped from location and people.
Evie is an amazing little girl and wanting to follow in the footsteps of her MawMaw, May, was precious. She definitely has a love for books and her penpal letters. She seems way to advanced for a child of six or seven-years-old. I honestly don’t see a six-year-old girl, and a fifteen-year-old boy is making a commitment to one another for marriage in ten years or so. For Charlotte and Crocket to be grown adults, they sure squabble like little kids bickering to get their way. “The golden rule certainly applies; he—or she--who has the gold, sets the rules.”
The plot takes the reader on many new journeys across the country and across the globe. We learn more about family members and see how far a family will go to bring one of their own back home. This family is big on asking a boon of another. In the next installment of the Texas Romance series, Evelyn and Nathaniel will be grown, adults.

Love may cover a multitude of sins, but not knowing all the facts can also get a man killed.
A family calamity gathers the clan, then a dying request tests loyalties and changes lives. New York City’s posh society, living on a rugged Texas hill country ranch, and the isolation of Alaska’s frozen tundra share little commonality and make going from one to another difficult at best. Still, destiny drives Crockett and his sister Charlotte where neither wants to go or thinks they belong. Second and third generations of the Buckmeyer progeny encounter danger, challenges, heartaches, and joys. But then reunions are all the sweeter for it.
This tale continues the breathtaking—and sometimes heartbreaking—family saga of the Buckmeyers, Baylors, and Nightingales that readers around the world have come to love.
Book 8 in the A Texas Romance series, by author Caryl Mc Adoo finds us with the very prominent Buckmeyer family. It follows the lives of several of the family members to give us a little back ground on each and what brings them together. Someone's death is gathering the family around the table one last time. Some of the family members will be asked to go find a wandering part of the family to complete a request.
It had to be a bit uncomfortable for the family to come together under such conditions. That is something a lot of us know, full well. This fictional family is no different. The author does a fantastic job of conveying their feelings throughout the story. She did a great job so much so in fact that I could relate, right away.
Book 9, rumor has it, it is under way. So don't count on this saga to end any time soon.
**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. All opinions are my own.
