Covert Affairs: Season 5
Frequently bought together
It's been several months since the team took down Henry in Hong Kong, and change is afoot. Auggie (Christopher Gorham, Ugly Betty) is back at the DPD, Arthur (Peter Gallagher, The O.C.) is offered a job in the private sector working for McQuaid Security, and Joan (Kari Matchett, Leverage) is returning from maternity leave to find that she's been passed over for the job of DCS in favor of Calder (Hill Harper, The Boy Next Door). And after mysteriously going off the grid for months, Annie has resurfaced, anxious to get back to work at the CIA and harboring a secret that could jeopardize everything. Sent to Chicago to investigate a purported terror plot, she soon discovers that the threat is very real, and much greater than anyone has anticipated. As a result, Annie finds herself swept into an international mission that will take her from Venezuela to Argentina to France and many points in between. Along the way, she'll continue to cross paths with Arthur's new boss, Ryan McQuaid (Nic Bishop), a charismatic Navy SEAL-turned-CEO with his own ties to the terrorist—and his own secrets. Watch the final season of Covert Affairs unfold back-to-back and uninterrupted.

Annie's casual attire is far more appropriate to the work we are expected to believe she does. Even though they still put her in chunky-heeled boots to compensate for her short stature, it is at least *possible* to believe she could actually take down or outrun a killer in the things.
The sneak-around, immediate-readiness, grab and go sexual scenes are far too frequent to remain fresh - a waste of too much air time, IMHO. The inappropriate choices of "love" interests (jealous, sneaky, provocative without an equal demonstration of intelligence commensurate with what one would expect) lacks credibility. Nobody at the level of the CIA operatives portrayed in this show would put his career on the line for mere sexual attraction, no matter how strong.
No wonder American TV series are becoming known as 3-season wonders, while British series go on year after year!! Character development with a reliance on good acting, writing and production values lasts - formulaic, supposedly hot scenes of the young, beautiful and sexy can only sustain a show for a while.
What a shame - this could have been a terrific show that could have returned great ratings season after season if the Network execs showed any sense. Back to the Brits?

"It takes a village to transform a world!"
The last scene of the last episode of the series leaves questions unanswered, but on the other hand, it has a charm and hope for a bright future for the characters. I think one more season could have worked but I do feel OK with the ending. Did we really want to see Annie quit and retire with Ryan... or continue on as an operative until sh'e finally forced to retire, or killed? Maybe the ending is actually perfect?
Goodbye Annie, I hope you and Ryan stayed together and Auggie and all the rest of the characters continue on.. out there, somewhere...
Annie, Auggie... Joan, Arthur.. Ryan, Eyal... all of you will be missed!
But wait.Annie has been offered another job!
Let's hope a spin off in the manner of 'Major Crimes' is in the wings.
