I have been following this subject since the late 60's, when a chemistry professor whose Air Force brother shared facts he knew to be with me. This subject is rarely given the serious consideration it deserves. I have a library of highly selected volumes, due to the disinformation, and silliness that obfuscates the reality that so many Presidents of the US,leading scientists and astronauts have staked their reputations on admitting...UFOs do, indeed exist.

This book is truly a must for anyone who wants facts, not opinions about such incidents in our world, and in particular, Washington DC, which has had and continues to have extensive visits from these objects.

Along with most Americans, I assumed it was true that no UFO had landed on the White House lawn. But this book shows conclusively that nothing could be further from the truth; in fact, restricted airspace over DC is the most visited area on earth. The author documents hundreds of cases, some at length, of what he calls "alien incursions" over the capital, and at least one landing. Readers will realize that very big secrets can, indeed, be kept for long periods of time, and that eventually what's been going on for decades, will have to be acknowledged and dealt with. . . or not. Even for those of you who have been reading about UFOs for a while will find easy-to-confirm information here that you haven't seen before.

George Noory interviewed author Robert Stanley on Coast to Coast AM earlier this year and just by chance, I woke up and caught the show. A few days later I downloaded the press release that had been discussed, read it carefully, and a few days after that, I decided to order "Covert Encounters in Washington, D.C."

There are no pictures in the 388 page book. They, along with supporting videos, are on the author's website.

I guessing that it's a self published work. The book is double-spaced and easy to read, but the page layout is inconsistent and even I found a number of typos. That's why I'm giving it just four stars - three for presentation and five for content.

As for that content - I find the material (both in the press release and in the book) to be most thought provoking...

There are two enjoyable types of these encounter-relations:
*Encyclopaedic lists of how frequently sightings occur and more, the specific types of professionally trained witnesses who make it clear there is much more--and much more interesting--to the contact phenomena
*First-hand encounters by well-skilled wordsmiths--Whitley Streiber and _Mothman Prophecies, as two different types--which encounters present the subjective terror, wonder, captivation, & unheimlich quality to the events.
Having listened to the author on Dreamland, I was expecting a bit of both, but was only slightly disappointed to find a very good example of the first kind. This is well crafted, although one-third of the stories demanded much more space. Also, the background media is a delight and without extra cost.
4 stars for a solid example of the encyclopaedic type of uncanny experience in a city that seems to beg for uncanny,,,

I've read several books about UFOs and this one, Covert Encounters in Washington D.C., is nothing really new. After awhile it actually became boring as it was nothing more than a collection of reports turned in over the years by different groups.

If you've never read a book about UFOs then you might like this book. As for me, it just seemed like 'same old same old' . It doesn't attempt to be anything but a long list of sightings compiled over the years.

I can't recommend it simply because it didn't really do anything for me. There are much more interesting works out there.
