I have been waiting for the second book in this series impatiently since I read book 1. I got hocked on the writing style and Mia and Cole story was amazing. This follow up book did not let me down, we were sucked right into the action with a kidnap story of dimensions and a Cole going totally dominant Alpha on everybody’s behind. What can I say it was spectacular!
We see a lot of growth in the characters in this book, and I enjoyed their struggle to find the right place in each other’s life’s while working together. The heat level here was HAWT, HAWT and I was Oh My trough out the book. What can I say biting and lovemaking makes a girl swoon. Especially when it is a Cole we are talking about, he is like candy and chocolate and everything drool worthy on two legs with handcuffs and fangs.
The book was fast paced and there were things happening on every page. The story took some turns I did not see coming and I also really enjoyed that it turned rather dark. I am now placing this in my deliciously dark category and I absolutely love deliciously dark. That’s my favorite kind of books.
Mia was also coming into her own, she did not take that ALPHA and say yes master, oh no. She was I am a independent woman I do as I want. You cannot come here and control me, with her new discovered powers so kicks back. It is awesome, I love badass girls. And she is badass yes, driving a hearse and doing it with style.
Over all I absolutely loved this follow up book, and with the little clues spread around I am dying to get my hands on the next book, DYING I say. I think I am going to stalk the author and see that she get enough coffee or red bull or whatever she needs to get her writing going so I get is super-fast.
I give 5 gold sheriff stars.
Copy was provided by author for an honest review.
About the time I get comfortable in knowing I had the story figured out, Tina throws a twist and turn which makes me backup and reread a few pages....which left me saying "crap, how did I miss that!? My 5-star ratings are totally based on my emotions, and I was feeling all of them. I always feel warm and fuzzy when Cole has Mia in a lip lock.
If you haven't read Power of the Moon, I really recommend that you do. Plus Amazon has it on special for 99 cents. Kudo's to Tina and big hugs too.
If you read the first one (as I did) you really need to re-read it before you read this. It's been 3 years, a hugely long time between books. Otherwise you will be totally lost.
Cole and Mia have a good dynamic. Yet, they hardly are together. The same thing happened in the first book. In romance/erotica, being together kind of matters, because you can't have romance or erotica if you always apart. So, while I think the overall plot has potential, and the couple has potential, the author has failed to find balance between her characters conflicts to create a really excellent read.
Again, I love Cole - even if he did something I rather didn't like in this one - so he's still my favorite character. He's seems a lot more developed than anyone else as well. But I did like Mia more in this novel than the previous book. She seems a bit more put together and less like an annoying hindering influence for Cole to me. She of course is also more powerful and considering her trauma - a lot more was revealed here - its understandable that she has so many issues. Of course, I'm a little iffy on her having had SOOO many traumas of course. But she handled things a lot better in this novel and almost came into her own.
Also mysterious vampire Mia met towards the end of the book means more drama for our main couple as well the activities of Velvet throughout this novel. Her obsession with Cole seemed out of no where at first, though. Some of the subtext in the novel is a bit confusing because you're not really sure if it's supposed to be a bit clearer before the end of the book. But we'll see on next installments.
Writing was good and the dialog was much better second book around. I actually finished this in a couple sittings (in one day though as there was a sending mix-up), and I enjoyed the ride. I am looking forward for book three to come out! 4 stars!
