I'm trying to figure out how to write this review. The book description is really good, but what it doesn't tell you that I think is important is that the issue in this book is really between the two brothers.
Colin and Jack have a very open relationship. Colin just came out of a five year relationship and has no desire to have anything more. Neither does Jack...at first. But things change for Jack, but if he tells Colin that, Colin will dump him. So he goes along letting Colin think that for Jack it's just sex.
Peter and Colin are friends because of their mutual tie to Jack. They get close...to the point where Peter and his girlfriend break up. This is where things get tricky because as close as Jack and Peter are, they aren't telling one another what is going on in their love lives. Peter has no idea Jack is serious. Jack has no idea Peter is having problems with his girlfriend.
Never is this a betrayal about cheating...and that's an important thing to note because that's a big trigger for some people. This is about the two brothers and what happens when they aren't upfront between the two of them. Theirs is the relationship suffering in this book.
Also, it's the fact that they're brothers that lends both the conflict and how things actually work in this story. No one knows what to do, how to make this work. It's really a fascinating story.
Note: the writing for the first ten to fifteen percent of the book is a little ragged. There is a lot of passive voice to what's happening that makes it difficult to engage with the book. Keep reading. Eventually the author settles into the story and it turns out to be a really good read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Jack a flirt and a one night guy. No strings please...
Colin recovering from a break with his partner for five years....
Peter identical twins with Jack, businessman in a somewhat loose relationship.
Jack is determined to conquer Colin for a night....He even decides to take some time for it. When Colin takes the first step he is very pleased. They have a hot and steamy night. Colin is clear about what he wants....no strings at all! Jack can't believe his ears...this is just what he is looking for!! They are both free for other relations...
That's exactly what Jack does...two, three others besides Colin.
When Peter get to know Colin is starts out as a friendship. They even watching games with the three of them.
But....things are slowly changing, feelings are changing..... one of them still wants no strings, one of them have dreams about the other, and one doesn't want to lose the other.
When Colin starts to have a hot sexual relationship with Peter too, Jack is not amused....and the always strong bond between the brothers is gone....
Colin doesn't want to choose....he has a better idea...
Solid written story. I love some good ménage and this was good. What i would have loved even more is to know how this story would go further and how they cooperate when they decided to give it a real try...that fact didn't showed. I trust it will be alright. But to read it on paper....would be better.
Their sexual interactions was well written, hot, sweet, demanding. Sometimes it felt a little awkward....Colin between the brothers, Colin not deciding....but even better when he was the one to come with a solution.
I enjoyed this one very much. The pace, the developing, the way it's written...all pluses.

When Jack and Colin fall into a casual, non-exclusive (Jack is still sleeping with at least 2 other men while he's sleeping with Colin) friends with benefits arrangement, it felt off for me from the very beginning. I could just see the s*** hitting the fan, quickly. Neither Colin nor Jack professes to want a relationship or commitment, but they are attracted to each other, so they just kind of end up in this thing. And then there's Pete, his relationship with Mo (Maureen) has been off for awhile. When Pete starts having sex dreams about Colin, it derails even further, especially when he won't tell Mo who the dreams are about, that they're about a guy, or what they're about at all. All she knows is that he's having dreams and he won't talk about them and looks and sounds guilty about them. When she, smartly, ends things with him, I was cheering her on because, honestly, Pete was being a big fat douche to her, and as his longtime girlfriend, she deserved better than the crap he was giving her.
It was after the breakup that the whole thing fell apart for me. Before that, things were dragging A LOT A LOT! and i was tempted to DNF more than once. But once the breakup happened, and Pete and Colin happened, I just shook my head in a kind of disgust. Because here were three people involved in this big mess of a relationship and none of the three were communicating with each other. Jack wasn't communicating to Colin how he really felt about him, that he did in fact, want exclusivity, had stopped sleeping with other people early on in their arrangement, and was in love with him. Colin wasn't communicating with Jack that he had strong feelings for Jack, too, liked their time together. And Pete and Jack weren't communicating with each other at all. Pete didn't tell Jack his relationship with Mo ended. Jack didn't tell Pete he was in love with Colin. And Pete very definitely didn't tell Jack he was attracted to Jack's whatever Colin was. When the big fallout happened between Jack and Pete, I wasn't even surprised, but I was kind of relieved and sort of intrigued because at least finally something interesting happened FINALLY!
Then came the avoidance. Pete avoided Colin for months. Jack avoided Pete for months. And Colin just sat in between them like a big, boring lump of curly hair. Oh yeah, the curly hair. For some reason, both Jack and Pete were obsessed with Colin's curly hair. I don't know why, it's not like curly hair is that interesting. But whatever, I digress. Back to the men at hand. The boring men and their big mess of a relationship. I honestly couldn't bring myself to care about any of the three men. Jack was kind of an idiot with poor communication skills. Colin was boring and did nothing to deserve the heated attention of two hot men. And Pete was a douche to not only Mo, but to Jack and to Colin, too. Good God, these men. Idiots.
When the inevitable conclusion came, I was sighing in relief that it was over. Whew. No more miscommunication. No more brothers hating their twin. No more boring men with curly hair who didn't deserve two men to lust after him. No more douches. No more of this messy story. The saving grace of Covet? It was pretty darn hot. Ménages can be really hot, and Covet is hot, certainly. I can't say it's the normal ménage, but it is a ménage at the end when they get their s*** together and figure out how they're going to make their relationship work. Before that, though, it's more of an open triangle of sorts. It's not a balanced ménage like I prefer, where the emotional is perfectly apportioned to the physical and all three are happy with each other and secure in their feelings for each other. But, it is a ménage in the end. A really weird ménage, but a ménage nonetheless. And a hot one. Let's not forget the steamy because it's honestly all Covet has going for it.
