I feel I should start this review with a disclaimer. I am in no way a country girl. I chose to be apart of this tour because I am becoming a huge fan of Helen Hardt. I have read a few of her historical romances and was immediately swept up into the world of her characters and their lives. Ok, disclaimer done. “Cowboy Heat” is just what the title states and SO much more. I became immersed in the world of rodeos, ranching, barrel racing with Dusty, Zach, Dallas, and Annie. I mean like all in, and it was HOT!

There are two stories in this book and you will not be disappointed. The first part of the book is about Dusty and Zach, "Ivy League Cowboy". Dusty’s life has changed so much since she and her family left the McCray Ranch when she was just six years old. Zach’s family, the McCray’s have always had money and Dusty’s father was a ranch hand for Zach’s dad growing up. Of course Dusty comes back for a rodeo hoping to win the big prize, but Zach’s intentions become clear after their first meeting as adults. This book is so hot it boils right over! When these two get together you feel the pull they have to one another. El Diablo, the bull, brings them together, but Dusty has a few demons she is battling on her own. There is also Angie, Zach's ex, who tries to split them up. So many characters you meet in this portion of the story make you want to know more about each and every one of them.

“A Cowboy and a Gentleman” is the second portion of this book that tells the story of Dallas and Annie (aka Annalisa, Doc). We met Dallas in the first part of this book and he is uptight, a bit disconnected from his family, and married to a bitch (excuse my French) Chelsea. I don’t want to give things away, but Dallas and Chelsea’s marriage was doomed long before he met Annie.

I truly enjoyed Cowboy Heat Volume 1. Both stories were hot with heroines with backbones that didn't take no mess from their Cowboy but struggled with inner doubt.

In Ivy League Cowboy, I fell in love with Dusty character as a person and bull rider. She had a bigger fight and chose to love with no regret and set free the man who she gave her all to. As she stated, she also took away his prize possession, herself. Zach would not be deterred because he went for the girl and the horse but came back with so much more.

In A Cowboy and a Gentleman, I wanted Chelsea to get hers but was happy Annalisa stood her ground until the love of her life took away her fight. Dallas had faults and wealth but he also had reason. His biggest one was worth 100K and a pleading that was worth it i. the end.

These are great cowboy romances and I can't wait for volume 2
