I may re-read these stories again.
TEXAS HAVEN-I read this one back in 2014 and reviewed it then. I had a problem with it. A young woman comes to Texas and meets a cowboy looking for a housekeeper, wife, and a mother to his children. He does not want to fall in love. These two are made for each other. Here is where I had a problem. His ex wife took him to the cleaners, taking 1/2 his land and then selling it. She was a witch from the word go. She married him because she thought he was rich in cash. He wasn't. She made his life miserable, ruined his trust for women and then left hi. After he marries Pollyanna, the ex shows up on his doorstep. She is rude, condescending, etc. to the new wife and then tells him she needs a place to stay for a couple of weeks - since he has a "slave" to cater to her every whim it seems like the perfect set up for her. HE AGREES to let her stay. I lost it for him with that. Just no way could I continue so I stopped reading. I would not want to discourage anyone else from reading since I am sure it all works out for the best, it just didn't work for me.
TAKE ME HOME COWBOY-I disliked this heroine from the very first. She had a sense of being better than everyone else. The big shot editor from N.Y. she knows it all and looks down her nose at the ranch foreman. After all, she is the bosses daughter. Doesn't matter that she has not been home for 2 years she questions her father for having a foreman and allowing him to stay in THE HOUSE. Not that it is any of her business since she doesn't even live there and thank goodness her father tells her that. Then she has to know it all every time he tries to point out things around the ranch. She just rubbed me the wrong way. I realized that I not only didn't like her, I didn't care what her story was so I quit reading. Now, she may not effect everyone the way she did me, so don't let it discourage you from reading this story. I liked the foreman!!
HONEYMOON RANCH-The heroine desperately in debt inherits 1/2 of a working ranch plus $100,000 from a man she never met. The other 1/2 is willed to his grandson who has lived on the land all his life like generations before him. The grandfather, for reasons of his own, has done this much to the young man's ire. He has never met her and has no idea what is going on. There is a letter explaining why the grandfather did we he did. A selfish ((astard that decides to sooth his conscious but at the same time puts his grandson in a very bad position. Now, the heroine is a wedding planner so she decides she will come in and redo the WORKING ranch and open up a wedding venue. Honeymoon cottages, flowers, etc. I'm sure this is a very sweet story as these two will obviously fall for each other. However, it was just not for me. I couldn't understand why she didn't take the money and establish her own place and leave his home alone. So, I would suggest you give it a try and see what you think.
CHALKBOARD ROMANCE-The heroine is an elementary school teacher, she has a student, Todd, that she is concerned about. She is divorced, husband caught cheating, she didn't lose much as he was somewhat of a jerk and verbally abused her. Her friend signs her up with on-line dating to get her back in the game. She meets the hero as a match on the dating web site. There is instant chemistry and she really likes him after a wild night of sex, she leaves without giving him her name and number. He tries to find her but can't. Then he goes to school to pick up his son and guess who the teacher is? You got it. He, by the way, is a widower. This story is a bit sexy, but then simple at other times. I thought the heroine was a bit immature for a grown woman, college educated, married and divorced and a career in teaching. she seems to worry about every little thing and every body. Her best friend Melanie is somewhat of a jerk as well. There is a lot going on in this story so it is an interesting read.
UNTIL YOU FALL IN LOVE-This story is about 3 friends that grew up together. Two marry, he goes off to war and is killed leaving a pregnant bride at home. The third friend steps in and takes care of her and the child. The story starts about 6 years later as they start to deal with a 5 year old boy and the things he is experiencing with a substitute father. The two adults are starting to question if their friendship is something more than just friends. The story is good for quite a while as they work through some issues. I did get tired of the heroine's thinking. Seems she was always looking for problems that didn't exist. And letting others run her life for fear of what they may think.
THE COUNTRY BABY-Great story, I loved this one. Teens get pregnant and are forced to put the baby up for adoption. Lots of pain and heartache and the teens are split apart. 18 years later the doorbell rings and the baby meets her biological mother for the first time. As these two come to terms with all that happened, the pain, misunderstandings, forgiveness, etc. they come to be truly mother and daughter. The father is also met at the very first of the story and he has to come to terms with hurting the mother and face telling the daughter that he was all for giving her away. Oh, and the daughter is also pregnant. So, another chance to get it right. It was a very good story and was good from start to finish. It is set in modern day and the events could have happened to any one of us or our friends, etc. so it is very believable. Good read, I thoroughly enjoyed it and definitely recommend it.
I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to any of these writers. I am a reader and this is just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
Each book is different but each book has heat and romance. Grab a copy and a cup of joe. YOU will be so happy you did! 5 star read all around.
