From the Back Cover

Brady Talmadge was a cowboy with five unbreakable rules:
1) Never pick up a pretty hitchhiker
2) Avoid damsels in distress
3) Never order chili at a truck stop
4) Always trust your gut
5) Never tell a lie . . .

This is what happened when he broke all his rules . . . and got into a whole lot of trouble!

On the run from an arranged marriage, Princess Annabella of Monesta dons the guise of a hitchhiking cowgirl. But when she finds herself drenched, alone, and hungry, she has no choice but to trust the tall Texas horse whisperer who offers her a ride. He's like no one she's ever known—a strong sexy man who says just what he thinks. And when one wild kiss leaves her breathless, she quickly realizes she'll give up everything to spend a lifetime of night times in his arms. But how can there be happily-ever-after with palace guards hot on her trail?

The second installment in Lori Wilde's Jubilee, Texas series. The Cowboy and the Princess is a charming love story between two very unlikely people. Annie Coste (Princess Annabella) has lived a sheltered and privileged life. Before her arranged marriage to a stodgy older Prince, she decides to experience all the fun things she has ever wanted to try. A fortuitous meeting with footloose and fancy free horse whisperer Brady Talmadge takes Annie to the delightful town of Jubilee. Brady and her newfound friends provide Annie the opportunity to enjoy the adventures she has been dreaming about her whole life.

Annie is a delightful breath of fresh air. Innocent and naive, she views the world around her with almost childlike wonder and it is so much fun seeing things through her eyes. Annie is incredibly prim, proper, very intelligent... and completely out of her element. She is excited to live on her own and she is thrilled to accomplish ordinary everyday tasks. Annie finds joy in simple pleasures and her excitement is felt by everyone around her.

Brady is such a complex protagonist. He is kind-hearted, laid back and easy going which makes him appear to live a carefree life. He is a loyal and steadfast friend and his ability to read horses is incredible. But don't let this good-natured cowboy fool you. Brady is full of hidden depths and he is keeping some dark secrets.

I absolutely loved the relationship between Annie and Brady. Their romance is slow growing and they really took the time to get to know one another. Their dates are incredibly sweet and wowza! The sexual tension between them is positively sizzling.

While most of The Cowboy and the Princess is light-hearted and just plain fun, there are some serious issues that this couple must deal with.

While the storyline is cute, this book has not been edited. The continuity is distrupted by phonetically spelled words, more sentence fragments than complete sentences and clothing that changes color mid scene. If you decide to buy this be warned that you are purchasing a book that is a rough draft and should not have a publishing house's name attached to the title!

Brain candy should be just that, an escape for your brain. You shouldn't constantly be wanting to ask the author 'what the heck were you thinking?' This book sadly did the second. I sort of liked the Christmas cowboy book enough to shell out the buck or so for this one. It was a waste of time to read this fluffy, completely improbable and poorly written book.

The Cowboy and the Princess by Lori Wilde
Brady Talmadge has rules for his life but he's tested them all out at one time or another.
He picks up Annie Coste hitchhiking and buys her a meal as he tells her about his profession of being a horse whisperer of sorts and that he lives in his moveable trailer.
She gets the wrong idea and thinks he's homeless. She has a small dog in her satchel on her big adventure.
She is a princess with an arranged marriage but she's run away from her bodyguards to experience what normal life is. He protects her by kissing her when the bodyguards show up looking for her and then he saves her from the man dragging her away assuming she's a prostitute.
She's led a very sheltered life and doesn't even speak the way others on the outside do.
She'd be happy to just have a few hours living a normal life and thinks how fortunate if the time was longer. When she realizes she has more time she wants him to make love to her.
Love the 'you know you're a princess' sayings at the beginning of the chapters, so funny some of them.
He knows she's hiding from others but won't speak of that anymore and he knows she holds herself regal and she has no idea what some everyday phrases mean. So many mysteries about her. She meets his friends and gets a job with the wedding planner and even a cabin to stay at while she's there working.
Love the slow stride of lovemaking scenes, quite hot and steamy, just the perfect blend for this book.
Love reading about the rodeo and horses and what he has to go through in hopes of curing the sick one, Miracle.
When a family emergency occurs he has the choice to step up to the plate and settle down or continue going where the work is...
She also has a family emergency that leaves her with many choices ....

I really enjoyed the first book in the series. So I came into this with high expectations and probably that is my biggest problem here. The heroine in this story is the main flaw. Annabella is a sheltered princess who wants to spread her wings and fly. When she is invited to her friend's wedding in America, she hops on the opportunity to ditch her bodyguards at the reception and hitch hike her way into Texas.

Brady Talmadge is a bit of a loner. He floats from town to town without a moment's notice. His only passion is his job as a horse whisperer. He likes his life of solitude but he is about to have his little world shaken up when he picks up Princess Annabella of Monesta at a truck stop.

The story takes a while to pick up and I almost set it down but I normally like Ms. Wilde's stories so I hung in there. Eventually the story picks up and all the wild and zany characters from the first book make appearances (readers get a glimpse at what happened to Mariah and Joe). Annabella stopped acting like a child and try to find her "fit" into their world. Brady's story is so heart wrenching and the author shows how his past reflects into the man he is today...insecurities and all.

So after finally getting into the story, the author throws one or two bombshells (which I kind of discovered early on) into the mix and wrapped it up with a cheesy ending. My biggest problem with this book is that Brady doesn't know she is from royalty until the end. How? He is constantly mentioning that she speaks as though she is far superior to others. Also, I find it hard to believe that she didn't know some of the simplest terminology. Forget that she is from another country, there is television and they are in the present. How can she not know?
