Not as good as the set I'd eventually like to afford... but for the money it does the job. The lights are good.. the hardware is a bit sketchy. But I'm not complaining. This is a very inexpensive light kit that delivers well for the price point. When you look at the cost of renting higher end lights for a small job.. I'd recommend these lights in a pinch. They get the job done.

Shame on me. I should have returned this but had it all unpacked and assembled you know.... Very flimsy and amateurish. I should have done more research. The strobes do flash (weakly) but the "modeling lights".......have to strike a match to find them after you turn them on. The construction of the stands and connections...sad. As the old saying goes "You get what you pay for" so my advice: Save your money up and purchase something that you can actually work with.

I ordered these for a little portable studio. The lights are great, and the umbrella. However, I was never able to get the softbox assembled. I tried numerous times, even email Cowboy Studio. The pieces I had did not work together. They got back to me right away with the best responses they could but I never was able to get it to work. I gave up and just ordered a white umbrella instead. Otherwise, the stands and everything else work great.

I have used these lights about 10 times now and they are falling apart. Maybe because I transport them and don't have a physical studio, but none the less the umbrella and soft boxes are falling apart at the seams. They get the job done, but don't look pretty!

Good for learning on your own but not so good for school or if you plan to start your own business with them. You ultimately get what you pay for with these. The umbrella and softbox however; are good quality. I wouldn't recommend these to someone who plans to become a professional photographer.

this is a nice set of starter lights, I do recomend adding a pair of shoot through umbrellas to your kit as it will give you more options.
I am using them flash fired and I have had some difficulty with getting them to fire reliably
I may have to build a directional light sheld/reflector to create more contrast for the sensor also sometimes the strobe will fire but the camera doesnt show in the image I think this has something to do with the prefire so the strobe is either going off early or late even with the shutter at 1/100 iso 100.
I recomend avoiding other strong light sources
recycle seems about 3 seconds even at full power. far faster than the recycle time on my onboard flash of 11 seconds.
