Ordered this backdrop kit for a "photo booth" style shoot at a local Preschool Fundraiser/Dance. Set up in home ahead of time to make sure I could work everything out and used the black muslin for backdrop. Used the backdrop kit along with Cowboy Studio light stands, umbrella and CFL bulbs to get the whole setup done. No problems with setup - if you have a brain you can figure out how to put the pieces together - very intuitive. Muslins may seem a bit thin to some, but as long as you set up against a plain wall or you set up your lighting correctly, you won't notice a thing when the photos come out. White and black muslins are the size advertised and awesome - plenty of fabric to setup a backdrop and bring it down well onto the floor to allow for plenty of setup possibilities. (Since they're pre-packaged and folded, muslins will have deep creases - give yourself time to steam out if you're picky about that). The carrying bags the Cowboy Studio kits come with are awesome - plain, nothing fancy, just a heavy nylon-like material - but made to fit the kit you're buying and super smart for packing everything away. Shipping - Cowboy Studio has been fast and awesome with every item ordered from them.Read more ›

The stands and crossbar take less than a minute to setup. You will spend far more time ironing or steaming the backdrop which is to be expected.
reccomendation : get small plastic clamps to hold the backdrop tight from the top and sides ($.50 a piece at harbor freight). I used the black Muslin over the bar and the white attatched with the clamps to minimize light from a rear window. This did not affect the pics other than giving a smooth backdrop
Overall, I was very impressed for the money. I would give 4.5 stars, but will give 5 since you can't give halves. If you don't expect a heavy duty set (who would for < $100) then this is a great starter kit that can easily be taken down or moved. It is more than adequate to get professional result.

Its a bit flimsy, so for heavy use I would not recommend it. For occasional use, its OK. Its easy to put together, but now I got a piece of it stuck, and can't get part of it apart... Read morePublished 11 months ago by KelleyB
