The support stand consists of two heavy duty tripods. Height is adjustable. The support bar that goes across the top is three pieces that assemble into a very strong 10-foot bar. In other words, the top bar does not sag. The bar fits through the top of the green material.
The green material is not flimsy. It's thicker and heavier than typical bed linens, but not so thick like a painter's canvass. In other words, it's a cinch to work with.
The shade of green is perfect for chromakeying.
I've bought light kits, light boxes and more from Cowboy Studio. Their stuff arrives fast and everything I've gotten from them is of the highest quality. I endorse not only this item, but the seller.
It basically performs as expected. As others said, it came needing to be ironed because the fold creases haven't gone away even after being left up for several months. A handheld steamer will solve that. The stands seem to be of reasonable quality and though the green material isn't as good as foam backed fabric, it doesn't cost nearly as much, either.
I'd say for a budget green screen this is a pretty good option. It's large enough to get your talent far enough away to light properly and pull a good key. Make sure you have plenty of room. Setting up in a house may be a tight fit. The stands MIGHT be good enough to hang foam backed fabric onto. I may test that in the future.
----EDIT--- May 2016
I've had this thing up for over a year straight now. I am convinced the wrinkles will not come out on their own, though they are a bit better. The key is to just blast it with enough light and it works. I'm still glad I purchased it. Happy filming.
- The muslin is good quality and heavy enough to block stray light.
- The stands I received were cheap versions and not the ones displayed in the description.
-- Heavy tubing size but terrible quality locking mechanism (Not quick single action as advertised)
-- No spring cushioning (as advertised)
- The crossbar doesn't have end-caps (will eventually cause the tube to collapse/buckle from use)
- The crossbar stand mounting holes do not line up properly, you must lean one of the stands over to get the crossbar mounted, then when the stand is completely upright, undue stress (twist) is put on the crossbar. This will probably lead to premature failure.
Amazon has reshipped a replacement kit, I'll post an update when it is received.
Extreme CON: Unfortunately, it appears Amazon expects me to pay for the return shipping of the order they screwed up? Foul, Foul, Foul!!! (Very Unhappy with this!)
Beware potential buyers! If the order had been fulfilled with the set as advertised, this would have been a positive feedback...unfortunately that is not the case. I would not recommend this kit based on these circumstances. If Amazon corrects the issue, I will post an update.
