The golf course next door has expanded and made a mistake and build the back nine on Cassie's land. Ellison Stewart, a sinfully attractive man manages the golf course, fosters two teenage boys, Leon and Peter while he is letting life pass him by. Leon gets the action started when he wants to see The Cowboy's Baby and trespasses on Cassie's ranch.
The references to the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale, a bull that loves Led Zeppelin's music to calm down with, the interfering Mrs. Bishop, Leon's search for a mother replacement and his real mother's return to his life and the campout where they forgot to order porta-potties with elderly people included made this a very funny book and somehow through all the crazy references to Sleeping Beauty as first Cassie, then Ellison and then Marcia it ended just right for them all, happily.
And as far as Marcia & Ellison go....I never felt any emotional ties between these two, little lone a love match.
The kids? I loved the kids and their curiosity about what was going on over the forbidden fence line. Kids are curious creatures by nature, especially young teenage boys.
This story also ran on a bit too long for me. I think it could have been shortened by a few chapters, and would have still been able to get the story across.
Would I recommend this book? Probably not.
I find it hard to believe there are more books and that this is a series. It's all over the place. The characters are all a little odd. The gold course owner is like some kind of devastatingly handsome man who hates his looks because he's TOO good looking...LOL REALLY??? The ranch owner looks a lot like a cat and has lost a child and her mind..Now all animals are called Baby
Just Not what you would think the book is about and on the flighty weird side.
