"Donna Alward is a hopeless romantic, but her stories and characters are anything but hopeless. In fact, it's that stalwart can do attitude that is the core of most of her writings and THE COWBOY'S CONVENIENT BRIDE is a shining example of Alward's innate optimism." --Fresh Fiction
"The story made me sigh and smile, connect at the emotional level with the characters, feel the discomfort of the judgmental attitudes, and the luscious feelings of falling in love, just lovely." --Books and Spoons
From the Author
In 2006, I sold my first book to Harlequin. It featured a heroine who was pregnant, a hero who came to the rescue, who offered a solution to her troubles in the form of marriage, and who loved her child as his own. HIRED BY THE COWBOY is still a fan-favorite.
Fast forward to 2016, and my twenty-ninth book for Harlequin, and I've done it again. If you read THE COWBOY'S CHRISTMAS FAMILY, you'll know a bit about Laura Jessup and her newborn baby girl, and you'll have met Tanner Hudson, the rancher and EMT who helped deliver her baby.
The baby is not his, but he loves her just the same. He offers Laura a way out of her problems by proposing a marriage of convenience - for just as long as it's convenient. The thing that's not convenient? Attraction. Friendship. Love.
Love, marriage, a baby in a carriage? I love writing stories where that order is all mixed up. It's hard on my characters, but the resulting Happy Ever Afters are some of my favorites.
I hope they're yours, too.
To Johanna and all the editors at Harlequin who have come before...I've learned so much from you and have enjoyed every minute. #editorappreciationsociety

I loved that Tanner was selfless enough to help Laura, even if it would change his life as well. I loved the connection between the two. I loved reading how caring he was to her child. I just wished that there was more of something going on. I mean there was the suspense of wondering what would happen once her ex come out. I loved how well written this book was. This book is short, enjoyable and sweet.
Both Laura and Tanner won my heart quickly. They were such good, solid characters, people who have made mistakes, faced the consequences, own up to them, and are willing to do whatever it takes to protect those they love. How can you not love them?!
Tanner was there as a professional, when Laura had her sweet baby girl. Ever since, there's a connection between them, that is special and intimate. As their friendship grows, the feelings get deeper, and even though they both fight against it, romantic feelings soon come into the picture.
The story broke my heart a bit at first. The trials of life Laura have faced, are not easy, the rumors running around would be difficult to face, and live with. But she is willing to face anything for her baby, even if it hurts, and has isolated her from her friends.
But the interaction between Tanner and Laura brings it all back together, in a sweet, charming, and at times even dreamy way. There's something real, vulnerable, and beautiful, even innocent, between them, that made me catch my breath at times, so many swoon worthy moments between them.
A true love story, that shows the difficulty and hardship life can be sometimes, but also takes the story to a delightful and tender part of living and loving. The story made me sigh and smile, connect at the emotional level with the characters, feel the discomfort of the judgmental attitudes, and the luscious feelings of falling in love, just lovely
~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
She has developed complex characters with very real issues that will easily worm their way into your heart from page one.
Laura Jessup grew up in the small town of Gibson, Montana and left soon after graduation. Her return unfortunately was harder than she has planned though. A lapse in judgement has cost her not only her reputation, but also her peace of mind.
Tanner Hudson has a reputation for being the town "bad boy", but he knows most of what is spread about him is nothing more than gossip. He's a hard worker on the ranch and a volunteer EMT, but longs to have a home and family to come home to.
This is a story that will pull at your heart for both characters and make you hope for a happy ending.
I really enjoyed this story and could easily see Laura and I as friends. She was a person that would always put her child first and deal with the fall out later. Tanner is a character that appears to have it all, but the one thing his heart wants. The characters are detailed and perceptive. Friendship is conveyed in a very genuine way. There's good flow and pace that kept my attention.
This is a book I would recommend to anyone who loves a good romance.
