The chemistry between Luke and Kennedy was incredible, and the labeling of this book as "erotic" is no accident, nor is it a mistake. Luke and Kennedy are incredibly hot together, and the author can definitely write a love scene that's a little dirty and a whole lot of sexy. And she writes plenty of them. I suppose what makes this book work better than so many of the Kindle books that sell themselves as erotica is that there is actually a pretty decent story involved here, and I liked the characters and wanted them to win their happily ever after.
The one drawback for me was the prologue wherein Luke sees Kennedy and his brother in bed together. Liam, Luke's brother, is pretty much a jerk and didn't really care for Kennedy, and she seemed to enjoy the sex with him, but I didn't think it was necessary to the story. It would have been enough for them to have shared a kiss or just some chemistry, as there really is never anything in the story that justifies her having slept with Liam when she seemed to have been in love with Luke in their younger days too. I kept hoping that this would be dealt with in some way during the course of the story, but while that previous relationship is mentioned, there's no attempt to settle it or to get rid of the Springer-esque quality of having a torrid romance with the brother of an ex-lover. As that part of the story took place eleven years ago, I just had to let it go because the rest of the story was totally worth the read.
Second, the sex scenes weren't that great. Yes, there were many of them, and who doesn't like to get pounded by a cowboy? But they were lacking. In this case it is QUALITY not QUANTITY. If the author would have spent more time developing the story and the sex scenes, and cut out half of them, it would have been a better and more STIMULATING read.
Third, there really was no explanation for anything. The author apparently forgot that when you mention something you should really follow through with it and explain it clearly. I think that the author, or at least this is how it appeared, was trying to rush the story to the bedroom for a pounding instead of writing the story. There is such a thing as a romance and story without f****ing every chapter. Focus on the story and not the banging.
Overall, the cover was the only saving aspect to this story, because let's face it, the abs on the cover are HOT!
The title didn't match the story in the least. The amateurish attempt at bondage was more of a joke than an erotic experience. If you were to remove the lackluster sex scenes and develop the characters and story, you would have had a decent contemporary western romance which would have warranted the read, purchase, and more than 1 star.
Would I recommend this book to others how it is? No.
Would I read more from this author? Eh, only, and this is a big ONLY, the author stopped trying to flood the pages with sex, and instead wrote the romance that this "erotica" had the opportunity to be with clearer direction and proper editing and dialogue.
I would recommend this title to everyone who loves a good read with a super ending. Can't wait to get the next book
