And then there's the problem with the whole Tornado thing. Since when do you know a tornado is going to hit days in advance. Never that I know of. A hurricane, sure, but never with a tornado. I grew up in N. Ohio, but move to central Fl. back in '84', so I am very aware how both systems work. I think this author should have done her research before writing this story, if she wanted to make that part of the story more believable. Another thing, you batten down the hatches, so to speak, for hurricanes, not tornadoes. Tornadoes don't care how many windows or doors you cover, because they will simply rip your whole house into toothpick form, within a matter of minutes. Your only hope is to find yourself a basement, and bathtub, A hallway in the middle of the house. or if you're caught outside, find yourself a deep ditch to use for shelter.
And speaking of research; I've never known of a two year old toddler who could speak in whole sentences, little lone those big words that Imogene was using, and never that clearly either. I also found the dialogue between the grown u[s to be a bit stilted, too.
Sorry to be so harsh. But I figure by knowing the real reason something didn't work for the reader's, is more productive for the Author, so they can work on those things to make their next book better.
I did lost respect for Sophia when she first met Nash again and was flirting with him while there was a possibility that he could still be married. Then I lost some respect for Nash because he was kissing Sophia while his best friend Wes was supposed to be dating her. With friends like that who needs enemies.
The vocabulary and fine motor skills of the child are not age appropriate to the character.
The cowboys are "prepping" the house for the tornado. The prep for a tornado is get in a shelter. Boarding up windows is a hurricane prep. So the author doesn't understand the difference between tornadoes/hurricanes and did no research or isn't from America. Disappointed in this book and I think I'm only 48 pages in.
