I ordered these bulbs in 2011- I do photo shoots regularly. They are all still working 4 years later! They are pure white with no funky color casting, and when diffused are great for portraits. Attached is a picture I took using two of the lights with umbrellas.

    These light bulbs are nothing short of incredible! I purchased this set of bulbs from Amazon in Feb, 2013. I am writing this review ten months later in Dec, 2013. I am happy to report that all four bulbs are still in perfect working condition! I chose the 'Free Shipping' option, which is usually made available on Amazon orders over $35, and I received my order within a few days. I was extremely pleased with the durable packaging these bulbs came in. Each bulb comes in its own cardboard box with a fitted styrofoam container shaped to nestle and protect the bulbs throughout their shipping expedition. I am thankful I thought to save the boxes and styrofoam in case I ever needed to travel with the bulbs. I screwed three of the bulbs into my tabletop studio lights (another great purchasing experience thanks to Amazon) and I have not had to change them since. I use my tabletop studio lights on a daily basis and sometimes leave all three lights on for hours at a time. If I were to estimate I would say that I have had these bulbs for on for at least 800 hours in the past ten months and they continue to work flawlessly. I enjoy the brightness of these lights so much that I occasionally screw the fourth bulb into my regular lighting fixtures at home. Whether I am using it in an effort to stay alert during a late night project or to help me see the tiny materials I use while creating jewelry, these light bulbs bathe my work area in beautiful, bright, balanced light. I am equally impressed with these bulbs when I use them for their intended purpose, taking photos. I wouldn't call myself a professional photographer but I can say that I have extensive experience in the field of small item photography. I use these lights in conjunction with my table top studio lights and a 24" Photo Soft Box Light Tent (also purchased from Cowboy Studio via Amazon) to take photos of the jewelry and glass art I create. Until I purchased these lights I thought it was impossible to take a photo that would truly capture the depth and detail embedded deep within a glass bead or pendant. These lights are up to the task! Their remarkable brightness penetrates through the walls of the light tent and fills it with beautiful light. I can take photos of small items at any range and capture every detail. They have dramatically improved my product photography and eliminated tons of time I was wasting color correcting photos in Photoshop. I am very pleased with my purchase and when these light bulbs finally do burn out I am definitely going to buy this exact set again!

    These are by far the strongest compact florescent lights I have used, and the color temperature is great even if I leave them on to shoot with studio strobes (at around 5300k). They are physically large, so expect them to fit into none of the commonly available housings. I basically ended up using them for ambient lighting and that's it.

    I cannot give these lights more than 3 stars because they are cheaply made. I knocked on one of them and basically the metal screw base fell off the assembly. Fortunately the one wire held it in place, and I pushed the metal base back in (with the other loose wire being on the outside) and it continued to work. I did it again, and repaired it the same way. It's definitely a weak spot.
