The AW1 is a device installed on a car windshield to record video, audio, and other data related to vehicle impacts or accidents. Especially, with its 1080p Full HD recording capability, built-in Wi-Fi and optional GPS, the AW1 offers clear and accurate images and recordings by catching plate numbers, colors of cars, and so on even on a cloudy day, day in and day out. thanks to the Wi-Fi support., AW1 can be controlled by your Smartphone.

After a few days of operation I can say, if you are looking for a dash cam, this is the one to get. The Wi-Fi is awesome as is the application for my Android smart phone. The first time I connected to the dash cam, the application detected a newer firmware version and installation was seamless. Video streaming works well as does searching for video clips based on time or events. Configuring the dash cam by Wi-Fi was straight forward and fairly intuitive.
The dash cam does run warm but I have not had any missing video time periods. I decided not to add the optional GPS interface so I do not have firsthand knowledge of its operation. I run the dash cam off of the cigar lighter plugs which is switched on and off by the ignition switch. When I start my truck, the dash cam starts recording and when I turn off my ignition, the camera, using it's built in power source, finishes the current recording, and gracefully shuts down the dash cam.
The dash cam comes complete with a long power cable, mounting hardware, a 16 GB micro SD memory card and reader, and PC application. The unit is well designed and well made. I highly recommended the Cowon AW-1.
As for whether or not it stands up to heat, consider this... I'm in Phoenix, and it reached 117 in the shade a few weeks ago, and even with my car parked facing the sun without the camera being shielded, it started up just fine when I started the car.
My only complaint is that the mounting bracket sits the camera just a bit too close to the windshield that I cannot get my sunscreen to slide under it to be able to hide it (need a thinner shield I guess). However, the camera is easy to slide out of the bracket (much easier to remove than the AD1) to store it out of site or to bring it with me for security.
I've seen stupid drivers lately, even one going the wrong way down a divided road almost right at me... and it was nice to know I had it recorded should I or the guy driving next to me have needed it!
Pros: High quality video, Wi-Fi, Actively developed software
No idea if it will work on Apple but the WiFi connection was the reason I bought it.
