Writing Crack the Indie Author Code
(and Write Your Book: Aspire to Inspire
) was a long, slow process because it was not so much written as it was acquired and accrued. I can write fiction quickly, but these writing guides were built a day at a time as I blogged my research on publishing and explored my thought on writing well.
Because of my background in journalism and publishing, I talked more about writing craft and editing early on. That turned out to suit the arc of this writing guide perfectly because it's a progression from sitting at the keyboard to being published. What I didn't expect until I revisited much of the material was how defiant many of these chapters read. I think you need that attitude as an author, no matter what you write or where you publish.
