The author is not reinventing the wheel, so if you are very experienced, you may know many of the suggestions from this book. For me however, it gave me a lot of new ideas about ways to become better.
The Training section was particularly helpful. The author breaks down the training into three components: strength, skills and conditioning. He then proceeds to describe the best ways to develop each of the three: namely, structured and varied strength training (which I know from my previous experience with lifting weights), repetitive reinforcement for skills training (I was seriously neglecting this, omitting important movements for weeks at a time), and intervals/progressions to improve conditioning.
Overall an enjoyable read with plenty of helpful tips I will try implementing in my training.
The book is also very well written, organized and easy to read. The text is far from being dull despite being about workout and nutrition etc. and kept me excited from the beginning to the end.
See you on the leaderboard next year!
