- Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2015I bought this study book and 3 additional practice exams for a total of 5 practice exams. As a poor student, I could not afford private tutors or sign up for classes. Although I believe retaining information from undergraduate science classes is the most effective way to score well, this study guide helped me a lot, especially for giving brief overviews on certain topics. My main problem was the science section, and I thought the study guide did a rather good job summarizing most topics. I studied for approximately 2 weeks before my DAT, scored an overall of 21, and got accepted to dental school.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2017This textbook was great, but it fell short in the Natural Sciences. The only thing Cracking the DAT was helpful for was giving base knowledge in the subjects I got average DAT scores, but not enough to be competitive. I reccommend doing some research. Kaplan DAT Blue Book and Cliff's AP Biology are said to be great study tools, as well as Chad's general and organic chemistry videos.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2017I studied pretty much exclusively with this book, and it covered at least in some detail every topic that was brought up. Some of the biology portions were a little long-winded for what I would call a quick review, but every other topic was covered concisely and well. The most beneficial part of this package is the two practice tests, but it was also the most frustrating. It had several computer requirements that took a long time to figure out (including overriding java security). The tests cannot be taken on anything that does not have an operating system, like a chromebook. The actual tests themselves were invaluable, though.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2015Used in conjunction withe the OAT guide. This was so far head and shoulders better than Barrons and Kaplan guides I bought it wasn't even funny. You could use this and only this and nail the OAT/DAT. I had even bought the Destroyer books but those are WAY over-complications of what is on the test and struggling with them is not a wise use of time. Register the book and use the online practice tests. The practice tests provided were SPOT ON for the real thing. My AA was a 360 and my total science a 370. I even received a small scholarship and think my success was due to heavy use of the materials in this book and the online free accompanying material.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2016I highly recommend this book for anybody who is taking DAT. Only the important and most relevant topics that are absolutely necessary for the test has been discussed. Anybody who wants to take the exam but has limited time and wants to review all the important materials, this book will be a perfect fit.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2014Excellent prep. Only negative to Princeton series is they are black/white with no color photos. Kaplan has those amazingly detailed color photos of everything. The format of this is better though. Kaplan reads like a textbook - chapters on information with review questions at the end. This one incorporates questions throughout the material after each concept.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2014I'm not taking the DAT, but I skimmed over the book before I gave it to someone who would profit from it. It seems to be an alright book to supplement other materials. However, the person whom I had given the book to seems to hate me now. Oh well, I think the book is an alright study aid.
I've used the Princeton Review's line of MCAT study aids, and those worked wonderful.

For Biology and Chemistry this book is far above the Kaplan book. Wrote the exam this past week and found 95% of the biology questions could probably be found directly in this book. Using this with conjunction with some other materials for less understood topics is sure to yield good results. Also comes with two online Canadian tests that you can directly print and get used to having a paper format instead of an online format. Practice tests were harder than the real thing but that is the best way to ensure you are prepared.
