Good for a review but be cautious about their tips on data sufficiency

Book is easy to read. Some of their tips are helpful. However, I would be cautious about situations when they start bringing in their favorite character 'Joe Bloggs'. This character is assumed to be an average person and some of their tips are based on how this person would think and attempt the questions. I would never recommend the approach based on Joe Bloggs for a few reasons:

1) it requires you to first understand what average really means and this is very relative. For instance, I consider myself above average (scored a 800 on GRE math), but in some one else's opinion who is much better than me, I could be an average. Also, we all have areas where we tend to differ in strengths/weaknesses. So how do you define 'average''? Unless one can think of an average Joe for Math and an average Joe for verbal, I am certain that some one trying to identify the Joe Blogg's answer will most likely end up picking the wrong answer.

2) You may end up spending more time in the test trying to figure out how Joe Blogg's would think than if you actually attempted to answer the question using a straight forward approach.

The rest of the stuff in the book should be helpful.

I took the GMAT without studying at all years ago and scored in the upper 80s. Had I used this studyguide, I'm sure I could have cracked the 90s. This study guide provides a wealth of knowledge about how the GMAT is scored, as well as strategies to taking the test and how to approach different kinds of problems. The only down-side is that the only way you can get official GMAT questions is by buying the office GMAT book. Also, this book seems to be geared towards the middle of the road test-takers, making large portions of it not very helpful if you are already a decent test taker.

Best guide for the GMAT

While this won't apply to everyone, I used this review during the 12 days studying that I had to study for the test and was able to boost my estimated score by about 100 points. In the end I got a 710 on this test, so that should provide a good selling point.

The best aspect of this book is that it teaches you how to think like the test makers. On all of the practice problems there is a solid explanation for the correct answer along with justifications for the false answers.

The other great thing is that the book doesn't waste time. It only teaches the material that will be covered on the test, and it teaches the process of elimination techniques that you'll need to work through the test questions as fast as you'll need to.

I'd strongly recommend this book over any other book out there.

Great study guide! Very easy to read and absorb. Awesome tips to help you get an inside look on how gmat works and how you can equip yourself to take it on and ace it, and great advice on how to apply for your mba. Practice exams are available online. I love this book! The only downside is that there are not as many questions to practice on, so I would recommend also getting the official gmat review to get more practice in.

I was disappointed with the quality of the printing (and not the content of the book). Book has lot of pages with blob of ink all over it so apparently you cannot read these pages; half the book has very lightly printed pages. This book should have been rejected for the quality of its print, I expect Amazon to do a better job and would appreciate a refund!
