Fans of ‘Charmed’ will instantly recognise this as the catalyst for the Tv show, complete with the Tv theme tune, a ‘Piper’ trial character and the ‘power of three’ [actually repeating a refrain thrice], this also may also have inspired the ‘Wiccan’ magic shop in ‘Buffy’. But it’s Fairuza Balk who steals the show as the one that ‘wants to play’ showing little remorse for her actions. Well acted, nice filming, a good soundtrack, a credible ‘fantasy’ story and some good effects, this really picks up the ‘dark-side’ in the final third.
The single disc offers play, scene selection, subtitles [English, German, French, Dutch, Arabic, Czech, Danish], special features [trailer, featurette, deleted scenes, directors commentary, talent profiles] and Languages & audio set-up [English, French, German, Isolated Music soundtrack]. Rated 15, this has swearing, scenes of attempted suicide, self harm, verbal abuse, domestic strife, attempted rape and general sense of trauma in some scenes. The moral is simple, be careful what you wish for and beware the consequences.

A circle of witches take on a newcomer when pretty Robin Tunney arrives in school and immediately appears to have magical powers. Problem is, the power soon goes to the witches heads and they start creating havoc in and out of school.
A message about how to treat others and not to let power go to your head lurks in there somewhere but overall The Craft is a quirky, darkly comical and offbeat teen horror that deserves it's cult status.
Had a feeling they'd remake it eventually...
