Crafter's Companion Large Guillotine is a brilliant and essential tool for absolutely any craft room. Not only is it ideal for trimming your paper to size, but it comes with an embedded scoreboard, allowing you to score at the same time with the integrated score tool. The score lines are 0. 25 apart allowing for precise and accurate scoring. This Large Guillotine has also been equipped with an extendable measuring ruler, so you can get an accurate measurement on all of your projects. You also don't have to worry about cutting yourself on the hardened stainless steel blade, thanks to the finger guard. It's been specially sized to comfortably cut up to 12 x 12 , so it's perfect for card making, scrapbooking and other varieties of paper craft.

The rulers on this trimmer are off by somewhere around 1/16th of an inch, or however wide the grooves are. That is a small amount but makes a huge difference when trying to make precise cuts. If you line the paper up with the ruler, say 5 inches, it lines up with the right edge of the groove. However if you then lay the paper on your grid mat, it is slightly smaller than 5 inches. IF you line the paper up with the right side of the groove it is exactly 5 inches...so the trimmer is useless for any measurements other than exact inches and even then you have to know the trick for lining it up.
I watched a you tube demonstration by crafters companion on the HSN network and the woman cut paper like butter with this trimmer. However, it does not cut heavyweight cardstock (110 lb.) very easily AND you cannot cut a folded sheet of standard weight (65 lb.) either. Certainly not folded 3 times as the demo showed. Most cuts I made had bowed edges because the blade pulled away from the trimmer when cutting.
You can use this trimmer for slicing paper into 1/4" inch strips, which was part of the reason I purchased it since very few trimmers have that feature. But I was hoping it would replace my other trimmers so that I only needed one.
I CONTACTED CRAFTERS COMPANION directly and sent a respectful email outlining my concerns and after 2 weeks have still not gotten a response.
I'll be sticking with my large stampin' up guillotine trimmer and my fiskars wire guide trimmer.
Cuts nice but I wouldn't buy again!!
