DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! Belt rests on the edge of a bolt and is very unstable. Also.I.had to take my sander in for minor repair that it arrived with and Sears' own repairman told me that my never used sander had bad bearings! They wanted within a few dollars of what I paid for it to repair it so I was out my entire investment. Sears' repairman did not even put my sander back together properly so I could use it until it totally died. Tried to get Sears to honor warranty and poor workmanship by their own repairman but Sears wouldn't.

Wow. Being a Craftsman brand, I expected some quality. It cost nearly $80 more than the Performax belt sander I've been using for years. I'm only on my first days using this sander, but so far, I'm not impressed.

It has a vacuum port on the left side, which is the wrong size for a 14 gallon Shop Vac brand vacuum hose, I presume the Craftsman vacuum hose would fit? At least an adapter would have been nice.

The little aluminum table can apparently be switched from the belt side to the disc side, but it needs to be bolted on both sides, so the whole table needs to be removed each time you want to change belts, which for me, is very often. On top of that, there's a small pointer that needs to be removed, along with a plastic cover that's part of the dust collector. All of the screws are either allen or phillips head, so you'll need to keep the tools nearby for each belt change. There's also a very thin, flimsy metal shelf, I'd imagine this is for use in the horizontal position, which also must be bolted on from both sides.

The miter guide for the table is plastic, and when I held a straight edge against its face, I can see it's clearly dome shaped. There is no way you could ever make an accurate angle with that.

The belt itself seems loose compared to my other sander, there's a hump in the belt until you press your work against it. I do not see any adjustment for this, short of modifying the cantilever that tensions the belt.

All of this combined with the horror stories from the other reviewers here make me wish I hadn't chosen this sander.

Purchased from Sears. Simply the worst power tool I ever bought from Sears. First unit out of the box had bad bearings rattled and screamed like a wounded pig. I went to Sears and exchanged this Bench Top Sander for a new one. This time bearings where good, but tapped holes for the side table surface where pre-drilled at an angle and where not true so the little Table Tilt Range is 25 degrees at best. I understand that in the race for profits manufacturing moved to China, but so did the famous craftsman quality which is now becoming famous for a lack of quality. Unbelievable junk, don't waist your time and money on this.

It will do in a pinch. Not for someone who wants accurate detailing. Table is to small and slide is way sloppy and cheap. Unit should come with 2 tables. It's a pain moving the table from belt to disk.

Set up is easy and works very well. I mounted it to a mobile workstation that I built to take it out side to alleviate the dust buildup in my garage.
