Dorsal Night Splint
Relieve Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis
The Dorsal Night Splint is a rigid ankle and foot brace that effectively alleviates most painful symptoms of plantar fasciitis by keeping the foot in a firm, comfortable, neutral position during sleep. Its low-profile design and soft padding provide bedroom-slipper comfort.
Unlike posterior night splints, which cover the bottom of the foot like a walking boot, the Dorsal Night Splint is more comfortable for nightly wear. This makes you more likely to wear it consistently to help relieve pain. With the innovative anti-slip pad, you can even wear your Dorsal Night Splint around the house to handle simple chores or just relax and watch TV.
What is Plantar Fasciitis?
Plantar Fasciitis pain is caused by inflammation in the thin layer of tissue that supports the arch of the foot. Inflammation of the plantar fascia band causes heel pain (often mistaken as heel spurs), especially in the morning before the foot has time to stretch out.
Causes of Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis can be caused by a number of factors. Flat feet, high arches, poor shoe support, shoes that don’t fit properly, sudden weight increase, and improper athletic training can all contribute to the problem.
Typically with plantar fasciitis, the pain is worse when first getting out of bed or is noticeable at the beginning of an activity and gets better as the body warms up. Prolonged standing may cause pain as well. In more sever cases, the pain may get worse toward the end of the day. Other indications of plantar fasciitis are extensor tendinitis, peroneal tendinitis, posterior tibial tendinitis, or achilles tendinitis.
Designed for Pain Relief
The Dorsal Night Splint is made with a strong, durable clamshell and triple-stitched stretch resistant strap. The splint easily adjusts under the foot and around the ankle to snugly fit both narrow and wide feet. This design brings much-needed support to the arch and relaxes the plantar fascia tissue, reducing pain caused by plantar fasciitis.
Instructions for Use
The Dorsal Night splint can be worn on either foot. Simply slide the foot into the splint so that the inside flap always rests on the arch.
Bring the flaps together to a comfortable position and fasten firmly with the Velcro strap. Once the Dorsal Strap has been properly adjusted, do not remove. Slip foot in and out as you would a slipper.
Secure the two remaining straps comfortably around the lower leg. The straps should be snug but not tight enough to cause any discomfort or numbness in the lower leg.
Other Solutions for Plantar Fasciitis
TheraBand Foot Roller
The TheraBand Foot Roller provides pain relief through soft tissue mobilization. It can be chilled or frozen to provide cooling, massaging foot pain relief.

TheraBand Kinesiology Tape
TheraBand Kinesiology Tape supports muscles and joints to provide pain relief. An application for plantar fasciitis can be found at the therabandktape website.
Exercising the Achilles Tendon
Plantar fasciitis can be caused by a tight Achilles tendon, so an exercise regimen is generally recommended to strengthen, stretch, and rehabilitate the painful area. Discuss your heel pain with your physician before creating an exercise program.
