They will release with a good bash. Sometimes you get a click when clipping in and sometimes not. Sometimes I can start a tough section expecting to click in easily and have to manage it with a foot unclipped because the pedal decided that it just wasn't going to cooperate. If you have weak soled riding shoes, you might feel the metal arms through the soles. Stiff soles are no problem. The finish will start to decline if you actually ride hard on real trails - not necessarily a bad thing.
I like my Candy 2's a little better than my EB1's, but for $44 - they are good pedals.
They are relatively easy to get into, but it depends on the height of the tread on your shoes. I just wish they were a little bit cheaper.
Within one year of owning two sets (one was already replaced by crankbrothers, for free) they have failed twice. One pedal seized up, would not engage with cleat. The other, completely fell off the axle.
To be completely transparent, I have probably put about 6000 miles on these, year round, through some of the worst weather Chicago has had to offer. I have had this family of pedals before and haven't had similar problems. Due to the great design and customer service, I'm simply upgrading in hopes that I get more durability and better results.

Spindle came loose on one. I can't take the nut off or tighten it. Pretty mad since I only had them a year. I liked them up until that.Published 1 hour ago by Ryan
