Sarge was an interesting character who decided he wanted Jasmine (who he's been crazy about since he was young teen.) Now that he's older and has mad a success he is ready to go after her. Jasmine was a bit harder to connect with. I had no problem with her issue of not wanting to get involved with Sarge since she was almost 30 and he was 22. That's a fairly big age difference at that age. What I didn't like was once she decided she wanted Sarge she still let the fact that other people would judge her get in the way of what she wanted. She also had just stopped going after her dreams and settled and she somewhat resents the fact that Sarge didn't. I thought that there should have been more scenes with Sarge and his sister/niece after all he came back to see her and he hadn't even met his niece prior to this visit.
So while I enjoyed this book it just wasn't as good as the previous Tessa Bailey books I've read.
Sarge comes back to town after four years away. He stops to see his sister bit she’s having problems of her own and sends Sarge to Jasmine, her best friend. Sarge has been in love with Jasmine since he first met her. She encouraged him to leave and make something of himself. Now he’ll do anything to keep her if he can get her over her insecurities.
You can never go wrong with Ms. Bailey’s books. If your looking for hot, sweaty sex, then you’ll definitely enjoy this. Crush turn to lovers. Older woman and a younger man.
The love scenes are combustible, I mean toe curling goodness! But, more than that, this story had a sweetness about it. Sarge is so genuine and loves with his whole heart. There was an imbalance of feelings between the two, I felt Sarge loved Jasmine way more than the other way around until the end. I love an older woman/younger man romance, they always melt my butter. The supporting cast of characters is great in this book, and I already see many possible spin-offs from this story!
Tessa always brings it, I know when I start a Tessa Bailey book, the ending will leave a smile on my face! I love her heroes, they are always alpha to the core, but with a heart of gold. Her heroines always strong and capable, no shrinking violets here! This is just a great book to curl up with on a cold night, but I highly recommend you are not alone when you read it, if you know what I mean (waggling eyebrows) :-)
