Farrah and Cody (Casper) were a long time coming...and it was meant to be when they finally broke down their barriers and went for it. No good relationship is easy though, and when you are the illegitimate daughter of an MC Prez and your mom was a club whore...life has nowhere to go from up at that point. Farrah has a new "family"...Cody and his sister Callie and their Gram who pretty much adopt her as their own...and from this humble beginning, their story unfolds as Cody becomes deeply involved with some serious club business and at the same time claiming Farrah as his permanently.
Relationships between daughters and fathers are mended, destroyed...fathers and sons are smashed to bits following terrible tragedy and deception and yet from all the ashes, there is a sense of family strength and a hope for a better future. There were quite a few exciting and unexpected twists in the story near the end...and some pretty disturbing scenes as well...but all ended as it should.
Cody was all at once a loving family man, loyal club "brother" and passionate lover...but with a few mis-steps and cold feet preventing him from going all in until he grew a pair and stepped up. Farrah had the patience of a saint and at times retreated into herself for comfort but never losing sight of what she really wanted in life. Her panic attacks BTW, were spot on in their description and I could literally feel them as she broke down...extremely accurate depiction of what it feels like to go through one.
I LOVED the epilogue too...awesome follow-up to what happens over the next many years and left me wanting to read more about the kids as they grow up!
***** 4.5 ***** "a beautiful ladybug and her ghost lover" stars
Casper (Cody) Butler was an absolute hero to me. Yes he was flawed, but through it all he always wanted to protect the women in his life. Most of all he wanted to protect & love Farrah (Ladybug) Miller! No matter what she did or how many times she pushed him away.
Farrah had a really miserable childhood. Her mother had been a club whore who got pregnant by the President of the club. When she was 14 the real abuse started but while it was horrendous it didn't last long & then she went to live with her best friend, Callie's family. Cody was Callie's younger brother & he watched Farrah, & loved her, from afar for a long time. Until the time came for him to claim the love of his life.
Their story is complicated but it is a story well worth reading. I think this was my favorite in the series, so far.

Cody “Casper” Butler, who we first met in book 1, Craving Constellations, was shot while trying to protect Brenna by her estranged husband and who is Callie’s (from book 2, Craving Redemption) younger brother. He joined up with Grease, his sister’s man, and The Aces MC after the attack on his sister to get revenge on the gang that murdered his mother and father and targeted his sister. He became Farrah’s protector and savior after her then boyfriend Echo was murdered by that same gang.
Farrah Miller, the illegitimate daughter of Slider, The Aces MC President, had a rough childhood living with her mom, a junkie and club whore. She has lived with or practically lived with Callie since she was 16, has helped Callie through her tough times and has been helped through her tough times by Callie and Callie & Cody’s Gram. She was also living with Callie when Callie was pregnant and after she gave birth to her son Will.
At the end of book 2, Callie had driven to Eugene, Oregon to find her brother and confront Grease, when she found out Cody had taken off to California to confront and claim Farrah. And Callie worked things out with Grease and decided to move to Oregon. Of course, Gram would be moving as well, and Farrah also decided to go since she had nothing tying her to Sacramento and Gram, Callie, Will and even Cody are all her surrogate family.
In that time, Cody and Farrah have hooked up, but neither one fully trusts the other and it shows. But it is something that they both try to work on and succeed, somewhat. After an initial introduction to some of The Aces families doesn’t go so well for Farrah, she refuses all contact with them, but doesn’t begrudge Cody for his position in the club or for what he has to do.
When club $h!+ hits the fan, the entire club and their families must go on lockdown…and this includes Farrah, who isn’t thrilled about this. Not too many people really care for her, since she is the illegitimate daughter of Slider, and she was conceived while he was cheating on his old lady, Vera, whom everyone in the club, loves.
Things get out of whack, surprise, surprise, we all need some drama! There are major life changes for several of the Aces families and for the Aces MC itself. There are quite a few shake-ups, betrayals, broken trusts, and love that tries to break through and heal all things.
I absolutely LOVED the epilogue!! And I seriously hope that this is where the next book (if there is a 4th book, I’m hoping/betting that there will be) picks up! Those are the stories I’m wanting to read!
