Every single thing my wife has made from this cookbook has been a huge hit with our family. Huge. The humorous anecdotes and descriptions add just the right amount of spice to make it a really fun read, too. Seriously, don’t discount this because a celebrity wrote it. Chrissy has mad skills in the kitchen. Buy the book. Cook the food. Be full and happy.

Love this book, and have cooked more than a few of the recipes. While most tend to be a little heavy, it's easy to work them into a healthy diet, and some of my favorites are soups, such as a delicious mushroom soup with no cream at all--well, I cut back on the butter. OTOH, the prosciutto wrapped chicken breasts are worth dieting most of the week in order to work them in!

One quarrel with Chrissie--she says that hash brown potatoes MUST be grated, because the diced ones are really "home fries." I grew up with hash a frequent leftover from Sunday pot roast. Every single ingredient in hash was diced small and the whole melange browned in a skillet. A review of hash recipes now shows the same treatment, so diced potatoes would absolutely be the way one would expect to find them in hash, particularly if they were leftover cooked potatoes. Apparently diced and fried "hash browns" were first served in restaurants in the late 1880s--usually shaped into patties. My mom's "home fried potatoes" were raw sliced with lots of sliced onion and sometimes cooked in bacon fat, as were those served in the homes of my friends during the 50s and 60s. Those were very good, but took a while to cook. I never saw a grated potato referred to as a hash brown until maybe the mid1970s, although I've just read that frozen grated potatoes first appeared in 1956. Don't get me wrong--we prefer grated hash browns for breakfast in my house, but I suspect their presence was a result of restaurants and diners looking for a faster cooking format.

Recipes are delicious, easy to follow with no long-list of ingredients needed. I especially liked the section of Thai inspired dishes.

Seriously, even if you don't cook just buy the book. Every story in this book is hilarious and the recipes look SO GOOD. I love that there's a whole Thai section and one with recipes for "intimidating food". The only downside is that there's no dessert section but hopefully her next book will have one!

I admit it, I ordered the book a little biased. I love Chrissy, and she loves food. However loving food doesn't mean you can cook. After some debating I got the book. I have tons of cookbooks. Everytime I get a new cookbook I read it cover to cover like a story. I have to say first off I was so impressed. The recipes are not complicated, they don't require 50 ingredients you can only find in 12 different specialty stores. The recipes are simple and straight forward. The directions clear. The pictures, are exactly what you want out of a cookbook. They make you hungry and want to cook. That's exactly what I did! I have made a few recipes and so far everything is ass delicious as you would think. My only critique is I wish there were some desserts. I love sugar even thou it doesn't love me. I get it thou, I can't bake either so why put in baking recipies if you can't bake. If you love food and cooking buy it. The food is delicious, the book is fun to read. I am very happy with my purchase. Pre-ording her second cookbook. Can't wait!
